Loved the color, style and snug fit of these boots, and they are amazingly light weight--but for true hiking boots they fall a bit short. They have a firm sole and well-padded midsole, but the cut of the sole is very narrow in the heel which makes them quite unstable on rocky or uneven terrain with roots. Also, the boot does not come up high on your ankle and is very flexible--great for comfort but really no support at all for easy ankle sprains. Nice stylish boot for flat trails but be cautious if you intend to use for rough trails or expect traditional hiking boot stability. Returned for a different Asolo boot, though, with more stability, since I do really love the snug fit and nice looks.
Having owned leather Asolo boots in the past, I knew they produced quality boots. However, I didn’t want that knowledge to hinder me in selecting lightweight hiking boots so I tried on boots by other brands. But in the end I went the Asolo Falcon EVO Jacquard GV hiking boots. Although these were the lightest boots I tried, with their stiffer soles they felt more like boots than hightop walking shoes. I've owned these boots for the past year and they have not disappointed me.
I recently did a Winter hike in these boots. They are very comfortable and provided excellent grip in frozen trails. My feet stayed warm the entire duration of the hike. The frozen water fall was amazing also.
