I bought this jacket in Creek Blue size large. Like other customers, I have an hour glass shape and it really tough to find a down hoodie that will fit nicely over my hips - they're not huge, I wear a size 10 pants, but still have trouble with a hoodie that fits me. I bought a large which I would say is a bit roomy, but I am glad for the room for base layer and fleece top if need be. The zipper is solid -would have been better to be 2-way - but at least it's a good solid item. Great puffiness and warmth - so cosy. I love the pockets and it is super light weight and packs down to nothing. I tried about 6 other brands and this is the best for me by far.
I am a 5’10” female who after 60 years resigned myself to having to buy mens mediums to get coats to fit. I hated the mens cut and length but there were no alternatives… until now. I actually started by buying a BD mens medium, and while it fit it was still a mens style. On a whim (and a sale) I bought an XL womens hoody and it fit perfectly! I now have an XL womens raincoat and now winter coat. They fit perfect length, sleeve length, and shoulder and I finally look like a reasonable 5’10” female vs a bulky hockey player. Thx BD for working on good fitting clothes.
Sometimes is challeging for me to find a jacket with a good fit for my wife, but it is not the case with black diamond, this is the 3rd jacket we buy and every time we get the best of the best.
I searched forever for the perfect hoody and I am happy with this one. My only complaint is they don’t offer it in XXS so it’s a tad big.
Super jacket great quality and fit will be cherished for years to come .
Super puffy, large arms around the biceps. Had to return.
Down jackets and I, historically, are not friends. They never fit me quite right for what I need them to do. I have broad shoulders and hips, a smaller waist, plus a short torso. This means that most jackets constrict movement at the shoulders and upper back or chest, have too much room in the midsection, barely zip over my hips and then ride up anyway (especially when a pack or harness gets involved), and are just all-around uncomfortable a lot of the time. Down in particular was hard for me because I’m active and sweat quite a bit, and need something that can handle the sudden rains and snows of the 10k+ elevations I frequently climb and hike in. This jacket has been my favorite find thus far! It has enough room in the shoulders for me to twist, reach, and cross-cross with no restriction anywhere in the upper body. While the midsection is still loose, it’s long enough and loose enough in the hips that it isn’t riding up and creating issues. The length is perfect, just barely hitting past the widest spot of my hips and covering everything nicely. The pockets are placed high enough that I can stuff my hands into them even with a pack or harness on. The arms are long enough to cover to the middle of my hand if I need them to, but sit comfortably at my wrist if I push them up a bit. The hydrophobically-treated down has kept me warm and dry in the snow and wind, and despite my sweat. I still wear a shell in rain and heavier/wetter snow but it’s nice to not need it all the time. The color Pine Smoke is a beautiful olive, which isn’t important but is a bonus! Note that this won’t be great for being active in mild temperatures. I had to remove it while testing it in pre-dawn 35° weather because it was too warm once I got moving, even without the sun. As I got higher in elevation and the temperature dropped into the 20s with a bit of a breeze, I found the jacket’s sweet spot. This was paired with a breathable tech fleece for ultimate comfort and dryness. My measurements are 34-27-39” for chest, waist, and hips respectively, and I’m 5’4”. I took a size Small to allow for fleecy layers and am very happy with it.
