I will use this as my 3 season parka for outdoor activities. I’m 5’10” and the jacket sits a little long = just above mid-thigh, 10-11” below the waist. The arms are a bit long, 24” from pit to cuff. The color is a bit more olive than the green you see in the online photos (sunny photos attached). Plenty of pockets, but only one internal pocket. Also, the side pockets are at ~9” above the bottom of the jacket. Put zips are not full length as shown, but the zippers work good vs. Outdoor Research jackets. The jacket is lightweight compared to my BD Recon shell and it is definitely packable. Overall fit is slim and tall like most BD clothing.
I just got back from a classically wet November hike up to 4,393' in the White Mountains. I wore a light baselayer and the Highline shell performed fantastically. The pit zips kept things from getting too sweaty and I felt well protected from the light snow and heavier snow falling off trees. I loved the cut - a little more material than BD's lighter rain shells. It was large enough to cover my backside and keep me warm on the descent.
I was surprised pulling this out of the package at how thin and lightweight it is. However, it kept me dry during 4 hours of rain the other day. The only downside is that it's a little bigger/baggier than expected. Maybe size down.
I’ve owned a lot of rain jackets in my time. They mostly start good, this one is great so far. I especially like that it’s long to cover my butt or account for layers. Ultimate test is will I still like it in two years.
Purchased for early season 14er. At the summit all I had on was this and a base layer and it kept me just warm enough not to sweat. Fabric feels high quality and folds up super small and incredibly light.
5’10” 185 athletic build, bought the medium and fits perfect. Color looks great, and could not be more excited to try it out later this month. Great job BD.
Killer jacket I highly recommend! Can’t wait to do some alpine climbing with it. 👊🏻⚡️🇺🇸
I found super light and comfortable fit. BD Dry works incredible and breaths really good.
I have been long-searching for a rain shell that is perfectly tailored for mountaineering and climbing that isn't minimalist. The BD Highline Stretch Shell is perfect in every category: It has a long hem to cover your waist even with a harness over it, it has higher hand pockets to accommodate a harness, it's got pit vents for dumping heat, longer arms that cinch up nice and don't pull below your wrist when climbing, a two-way zipper which is imperative for using a harness underneath or dumping heat and accessing inner layers, and a hood that fits over a climbing helmet! This jacket's particular fabric is also neat because it feels like a mix between a lighter jacket and a thick, heavy gore-tex jacket. The fabric is heavy enough to provide durability and waterproofness that hold up against abrasion, bushwacking, and more and yet is not an overly heavy, hot, stiff gore-tex shell. I really appreciate the cool moss/green color as well. I also love the fit. I'm ~150lbs, 6th athletic build and the medium fits like a charm. More importantly, it has extra room to fit layers perfectly underneath and not feel tight - something that most other brand jackets have issues with. Thanks BD for making an awesome shell with all the feature and logical, common sense additions that make this jacket my go-to.
