Live in Alaska, not as warm as advertised. Just taking the dogs to the park for a walk in +25F and the feet stay cold. Returning for something else. Also, the boot is narrow for fellow wide foot folks.
Love the boot but it has one major flaw! Unlike the other reviewer, I found these boots to be waterproof and super comfortable but too warm for anything above about 55F. The major flaw is the stupid D ring for the gaiters as it catches sticks, leaves, and other debris. I actually managed to have a backpacking trip ending injury because a stick got caught in the D ring full stride and down I went bruising both kidneys 20 miles from the nearest road. Just rip those off and you’re good to go though.
Ive had these for a short period and only use these a couple of hours per day when walking the dogs (usually through wet grass). While they are sturdy, they are definitely not waterproof as my feet still get wet. Not horribly wet, but it’s irritating enough and likely won’t get better with time. Would never recommend these to anyone for hiking in anything other than dry conditions. Maybe at this price point I shouldn’t have expected any better?
I have low forefeet. I got a finger blister from tightening laces on Merrells which still won’t fit. La Sportivas a full size up from my street shoes can easily lace up my feet with or without layering socks. These Salomons are in between. Still there was a bit of play the lacing range I couldn’t get rid of so these went back. The boot construction appears nice and light for the snowshoeing that was intended. My ski boots are Salomon.
Only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is it doesn’t come as an 8 inch combat boot. I can assure you that this added to the Forces line and available in black and tan and olive would definitely sell amongst that line of professionals. It’s lightweight and not as bulky as the Toundras which I also own. This looks more streamlined. Durability, I need to let it go through the beating of shift work during this winter to assess that.
This boot is poor quality. The left boot fits snug, but the right boot is very loose even after pulling the laces very tight. The right shoe also has almost no arch support. It is very uncomfortable to walk around in. I am using them to walk my dog at least 3 miles a day outdoors in winter weather. I do not recommend this boot, I am looking for something else so I can toss this pair in the garbage.
Having mostly a PU coated shoe is exactly what I've always wanted for when there is mostly slush and wet snow on the ground. Used for backpack hunting in northern US/Canada. Comfortable on the side of a mountain, even when hauling out 100+ lbs of meat on top of my multi-day kit and rifle. I hope Salomon never gets rid of this shoe.
Absolutely love these snow boots! They’re super warm, waterproof, and have great grip on ice. I’ve worn them through slush, snowstorms, and freezing temps — my feet stayed dry and cozy the whole time. They’re also surprisingly lightweight and comfortable for all-day wear. Definitely worth it for winter weather!

Absolutely dangerous to wear on ice and snow. Some very hard and doesn't grip. The second you step on ice they slide. I can't believe this is called the snowpilot boot. They're comfortable and seem warm. But I bought these to walk in the snow. I've almost fallen 3 times wearing them.
