Super light, comfortable and warm
My husband loved it!! The quality is great and very warm. It is perfect for traveling because it is light and comfortable. The colors are much nicer than the photos. The size is accurate if you take the measurements that they have in their chart, my husband usually is XL but according to the chart he is XXL and it fits perfectly.
Nice looking vest but rips easily
I think this vest is OK in terms of warmth and it looks nice (I have it in Abyss pattern) but the shell material is very thin and it rips from any minor scratch. Don't try to do any work in it. Same with the jacket. I had trouble repairing two little holes I got after the vest was placed in a backpack that also contained crampons. Their customer service response was slow and ineffective. After multiple messages over a month time, they agreed to send me just a clear repair tape, which I am still waiting to receive.
Fuego Down Vest - Men’s (review)
Comfortable and keeps the core warm. I took it up to Mammoth Mountain for snowboarding on opening weekend as my second layer (first layer was the Monte Hybrid Jacket in the matching Bronze/Maritime colors) and kept me very warm and not too heavy with the outer jacket I had on. Plus I’ve been getting a lot of comments on the colors and where I got it (free advertising, you’re welcome!) Been pairing it with long sleeves/hoodies for that extra bit of core warmth. Awesome jacket, medium fits me well as I’m a 38R on the shoulders. One of my best purchases for outdoor wear in a long time.
So Dope :) Best to you and yours, and thank you!
Love the colours!
I've been receiving compliments all day on this jacket, and I'm a big fan of variegated things! Initially, this vest didn't keep me warm, but once I got moving and produced heat, it really trapped in the heat and made me sweat. It's probably not a great idea to wear to strenuous activities, like a hike, but in between pickleball matches, it got the job done tonight. My only gripe with this vest jacket is that it's bulky in the mid-section, so there's a lot of space around my waist. If you like a loose fit, then this is for you! However, for me and my build, this vest jacket has a lot of space. Good news is that it is comfortable, though!
Return
I have attempted to return a vest and have sent 5 emails with zero response. Strange story. Ordered the medium and it was too big. Exchanged for a small and it was too small. Because the order number no longer exists (original exchange shows already returned) there is no way to actually use the system to do it. When i reached out they responded but didn't fix it and now they just ignore me. I have literally sent 6 emails now without a response. Its really too bad. I have bought a lot of their product and love it. But, if they cant even respond to me i will tell anyone that i am unable to recommend them as a company. Really a shame.
Looks amazing, fits perfectly!
This is my first Cotopaxi product, the Fuego Down Vest. I absolutely LOVE it. I got it as a gift for Christmas, but it was a little big on me—the Cotopaxi team was super helpful and accommodating in helping me exchange it. It was a size M, I usually am somewhere between a S and a M, the M was just a little looser than I wanted it to be. (I’m tall and skinny: 5’11”, 160lbs) The S fits snugly, not too short, feels almost like a nicely tailored “slim fit medium.” Put it on over my fav sweater for a chilly midwinter round of golf and shot my best score ever. I credit the Cotopaxi vest! :) Thanks for a well designed quality product, and awesome customer service!
Thin Vest
I bought the men’s vest because I prefer the colors over the men’s. I wish men’s sizes would just give you a skoch bit more room at the waist! Us women need just like an inch more and it would be perfect! If I were to go up a side, it would be way too big on me. But I can’t complain, I order men’s stuff all the time and knew it would be snug at the hips. I do love the colors, it is very thin! I’m really not sure just yet how practical it will be for camping and hiking. It’s great for walking my dogs on a cool day!
surpassed expectation
I'll be honest, when I first entered the cotopaxi store with my wife, I had zero intention of buying myself anything. I certainly wasn't looking for a vest as I found they usually have too short of a usable window weather wise. The Tag on the Fuego vest was what actually caught me eye. Seeing that cotopaxi had put 800 fill down and a DWR made me realize Cotopaxi had put a lot more thought into the vest than just the colour set. Since buying it, I've used it on 2 trips in 2 countries. It packs down nicely in its inner pocket to save space, and have found it to be a really good fall option when temperatures get below 10c especially with the Otero fleece I purchased to go with it.
Cotopaxi a lifestyle and moral brand
I love the vest it so comfortable and light weight. I have taken it to Colorado Fly fishing, the Central CA coast wine tasting and most recently to a flight to Cabo in the early morning which kept me warm. I really appreciate the 70's retro colors being a child from the 70's. I also like the founders way of giving back to the local communities in countries less fortunate than we are here in the U.S. with our donations.
I'm a Vest Convert Now
I'd never had a vest before, and it's seems to be an oft debated topic on the internet if vests are really worth having for active outdoor pursuits. This was on sale for a price too good to pass up so I bought it and tried it. I really like it. I paired this with a long sleeve Capilene base layer and some lighter weight winter gloves doing some moderate to strenuous hiking in roughly 45 degree weather. It worked well. My arms seemed to act like heat-sinks while this kept my core warm without overheating. Some reviews mention the sizing being way off on these, but I have to disagree. I'm 6'3" tall with broad shoulders and a long torso. I weigh around 228 lbs and the XL fit me perfectly.
