Great travel shoe
I cannot speak to long term durability as I have not had these long enough. I bought them for a trip to Ireland and they are great travel shoes. The default lace system (I say that as there are normal laces in the box) make these super easy to take off and put on. Depending on what airport you fly through, that can be helpful. They are water proof as well, which is always a good thing when walking around sightseeing. Oddly enough we spent 7 full days in ireland and did not see a drop of rain . . .
Beware the Squeak!
I was a victim of the squeak as reported in other reviews on Hoka's web site. I had these shoes for about 10 days, then the left shoe started squeaking with each step. Shoe was very comfortable. It was light and seemed durable but nothing would stop the squeak. I returned them. My daughter has 4 pairs of Hoka other models which she loves. But stay away from Transport GTX unless you like squeaky steps.
Checks all the boxes - perfect fit for use
I absolutely love these shoes. They check all the boxes for why I bought them which are 1) fit and comfort 2) water proof for daily 3 to 5 mile in parks/wet grass/some mud with dogs 3) great alignment and support of my custom orthotic insert for plantar fasciitis. I have used these daily for 5 weeks so I have about 125 miles on them now. The fit is perfect; 9W is 9W. I go through a ton of mid to high wet grass, weeds and brush daily and my socks and feet have been dry. A few mornings I swore they were wet but it was just the cold getting through as all was dry when I took them off. I'm not sure about walking through streams but if I were doing that I would have a much higher boot vs a shoe. They fit the custom orthotic perfectly when I remove the HOKA insert and after 5 weeks of use the pain from my plantar fasciitis has gone down. I bought a pair of Solomon XA Pro 3D V9 GORE-TEX Trail Shoes 3 weeks prior to this purchase for the same purpose as I had always used Solomons for the dog walking and they had been good. The new Solomon version was terrible for my plantar fasciitis to the point I had to stop walking for 5 days and get some PT for recovery....I gave the Solomon's away (good shoe if you don't have feet problems). I have also been wearing these for Community Emergency Response Team training with the local fire department because they are so comfortable, have great traction and unless I get doused from above they have remained waterproof. I do see a lot of notes about them sweaking. Yes they do that on concrete, asphalt but I hear nothing on dirt, gravel, grass or on the wood floors in my house. Every GoreTex shoe or boot I have had has the same issue and I believe its due to how the material is bonded to the sole to maintain a seal although I'm no expert. For the most part I don't notice it at all as I am usually listening to a podcast or music during walks (about 1 of my 3 to 5 miles a day are on concrete walkways).

Hoka Transport self tensioning system is terrible
I’ve had a pair Koka Bondi 8 sneakers for some time and have been totally satisfied. I thought these Transports would be equally comfortable and convenient. First, they run small, so up size. And the slip-on tensioning system is absolutely miserable. Glad laces were included. After a week or so the basic shoe is comfortable.
City Hoka
These shoes offer nice comfort. The Vibram sole seems durable, but it does make it stiffer. I have not worn them in the rain yet but hope the GoreTex will do the job.
