some say you cant wear gortex for running

They are wrong. I love these and wished i never listened to the running store salesman and bought a pair of lone peak6 altras... they are a zero compared to Genesis goretex. Like my backcountry hiking boots which are also and forever salomons, the Genesis goretex are my new trail runners. Especially excellent for running in slushy snow! The Genesis gortex for trail running are what you typically expect with all of salomon foot wear: superb comfort, stability/durability. Everyone I talk to on the trails love their Salomons. Their really is no reseaon to bother wasting money trying other products.

Very comfortable shoes

Great snug fit typical of Salomon shoes. The undersole felt surprisingly thick and padded compared to my previous pair. Initially I wasn’t sure because I can’t “feel” the terrain as much, but I got used to them very quickly and love them! I could walk forever in them. Also I love the colour, not all black but still quite toned down, not bright nor garish, so I can wear these as everyday shoes in town on rainy days.

Genesis family is the best in the Salomon line

Excellent comfort. Fit is the same as the non-goretex shoe. Midsole is a little softer but that will be ok since this will be a winter shoe. Feels very light and flexible for a goretex shoe. The genesis is the best all around trail shoe, the slab version does have a wider forefoot and is lighter, but if you need a do it all shoe you can’t got wrong with the genesis (if it fits your foot well).

True to Size, but Gore-Tex Didn't Breathe

The sizing was spot on with my previous Salomon shoes. Bought these to replace my X-Ultra 3 GTXs which are worn out. Previously also had a par X-Ultra 2 GTX. However, this time, the gore-tex just doesn't breathe as well as previous shoes. Switching to the non-gore-tex version. Also, the color options for the non-gore-tex version are much better.

Run Short - Heavy Upper - Squishy Heal

Been running and hiking in Solomon's for 25 years. These shoes looked great online but are disappointing. I bought them as a heavy trail runner that I could use for backpacking, which is how I used the Sense Ride GTX's (discontinued?). The Genesis either run a half size short or the toe box is too narrow at the inside of the shoe...big toes rubbed against the side/front of the shoe on both feet. Beyond that, the uppers are thick and heavy, which is normal for Gortex, but overly so in this shoe. The upper seems bullet proof to trail wear, but they crease awkwardly which would be an issue for long hikes/runs. And most importantly, they lack stability. This shoe has a high heel stack which I don't mind, but the heel is so soft as to be unstable (ankle rolls). If the Genesis is Salomon's replacement to the Sense Ride 5's (burly trail runner / light hiker hybrid), it has a long way to go. These went back in the box 60 seconds after they came out.

Terrible offering from Salomon

I never thought I'd regret buying a pair of Salomons, until today. They're like a thin piece of plywood, strapped to my feet. They have almost no cushion, they move around on my heels like crazy, and they won't let my feet roll like they want to. I will relegate these to the garden shed, right away.

not good as expected

Bought this item ~ month ago expecting the great performance as before , size 9.5 - my standard for all salomon trail running shoes ( last one was thundercross). Unfortunately , this size was larger then before, my legs loosened, and no strong amortization when running , as I had with thundercross

My New Go To

I began trail running in the Speedcross, then tried the Thundercross for the roomier toebox. Both solid runners, no complaints. I had my eye on the Genesis and decided to give them a try. Absolutely love them. They fit so well, and super comfy. My new go to, for sure!

Fit is not so good

I have worn these shoes twice now. The toe box is too small. The rest of the shoe fits fine, but the toe is entirely too small. Compression pain on small toes and big toes within a matter of an hour or two.

Good Multipurpose Shoe

Minimal break in time and light on the foot. Very comfortable for 10 plus hours of wear time. Waterproof needs touching up after about a month or so. Otherwise I would purchase them again.
