I have a 4 yr old version of this that has been a go-to for ski trips with the kids, bulky motorcycle gear...long overseas trips, etc. What is great: Hard bottom, big duffel with wheels and a handle. The hard bottom is key--saves wear and tear from airline baggage gorillas, and is easier to slide in and out of vehicles, etc. The dark grey top does get a little grimy from airlines, but wipes down very easily w a damp rag or some cleaning spray. DEAL KILLER...it appears they've changed the hard bottom to a nylon covered bottom??! Why? I'm ready to buy another but not without the hard bottom.
Took this bag on a long trip through South Asia and it worked great. One of its best features is the larger wheels—they make it much easier to roll over sidewalks, uneven streets, and even getting on and off ferries. Some people might prefer a four-wheeled suitcase, but in my experience, those tend to have small, flimsy wheels that struggle on anything but smooth airport floors. This bag is built for real travel, not just terminal hallways.
I bought this suitcase to use on a long trip with multiple plane rides. I was so stoked because it seemed like such a good suitcase for a carry-on. I had a ton of flights and I wanted my bag with me. I am giving it three stars because it is not easy to drag around airports. I wish it had four wheels. It doesn’t hold much either. I was bummed while using it. It was clunky and awkward.
Ordered this 6 weeks before our trip, still haven’t not gotten it. Nice job advertising it would be sent via air. The package is still in Maui, we live on the Big Island. I am sure the bag is good, but a lot of money for no bag- great job REI!
