Loved these shoes until they started to fall apart

I found these to be really comfortable and great for every day wear. I think the Gore Tex hinders breathability in particularly hot weather but not to the point where they were uncomfortable. I was in love, until after having them for just 10 weeks in I noticed some of the fabric starting to tear away on both shoes. I’ve only used them for walking around cities, no running, no challenging weather conditions, so this was particularly disappointing. For the price point I’d appreciate a more durable shoe and will shop elsewhere for my next pair!

Consistently a Winner

I bought these about a month ago. I bought an earlier version of this model about three years ago and have just about worn the soles smooth. I had no problems whatsoever. I’m sold on the lacing system which was new to me at the time. The Goretex held up well. They were great, and this latest rendition seems just as well made. The sizing on all the Solomons I’ve owned has been outstanding, very comfortable after a short break-in. (I hiked the Camino de Santiago in a pair of Salomon boots and was blister-free.) The sole grip is excellent. I trust Salomon.

Comfortable but not really a hiking shoe

Comfortable, but more suitable for a stroll than a hike. By which I mean that they are quite trainer-like, the soles too soft and flexible to provide good support for an all-day walk on rough ground. And, while they look quite smart when new, a couple of outings walking in muddy conditions has a big impact on the appearance of those pale uppers. I bought these shoes ten months ago, have not walked more than a couple of hundred miles in them, yet they been letting in water for the last three months.

Great but..........

These look and feel narrow; I am UK 9 and found that 9.5 was still a bit too tight (length was fine). After 4 weeks in Central America I have come to the conclusion these are great shoes; they can be worn with the laces really loose if on say plane. Just lean down and pull them secure and they firm up across your foot width. I have a feeling that a bit more wearing in and they will become my favorite shoe. Just do not wear them straight away for a long walk; it will end in tears.

Good but not good enough

Comfortable, looks great, and decently waterproof. Why did I still rate this only 3 out of 5 stars? The shoes are sturdy and durable. However, the eyelets that secure the lacing are the weak link. I bought a pair in November 2024 and they’ve already failed me. These were my favorite pair of Salomon’s I’ve owned until this happened. Thought about buying a new pair thinking I might’ve gotten a bad pair until I saw other reviews saying they’ve run into the same problem as I have.

Loved them until eyelet on lacing system failed

Comfortable supportive hiking shoe and the closest yet to my (very) old favorite, X ultras. Moderate use in urban and National Forest trails, so having the eyelet fail after less than a year (and rendering the lacing system useless) was a disappointment. beige color scheme showed dirt and since its a Gore-Tex shoe in Pacific Northwest, its going to be in the mud. Still looking for a current model as nice as the old X Ultra

Takes a while to break in

Took a good week of wear to break in. The uppers were stiff and creased very uncomfortably for a good while, and are still less comfortable than the X-Ultra 4s. But the tongue design is much better than that found on the X-Ultra, showing you to slip on the shoe very easily - just like the old design. A bigger range of colours would have been ideal.

Great shoe but need reinforced eyelets

Bought this shoe for hiking after a great experience with xt6’s. The fit is perfect strong, durable and grippy sole but unfortunately the eyelets couldn’t handle the speed laces when I tighten them and broke on both shoes after only 5 days of hiking. All they need is a plastic bit inside the eyelet (just like the xt6’s) and they’d be perfect.

epic sauce

bought these a couple weeks ago and they are the perfect blend for being able to use for just everyday general use for which having a comfortable and durable shoe was important but then also being able to use them on day hikes and still hold up asif they were a shoe built for hiking

Grand Canyon

I chose these shoes for my hike for the North Rim to South Rim of the Grand Canyon in May. Comfortable, easy to break in, and will keep me dry. I have worn Salomon for all three of my hikes through there and I am 60+ years old. I appreciate the support and the product.
