This is an awesome fixed-blade for anyone who spends a considerable amount of time in or on the water. I'm a lifelong paddler and fisherman who doesn't like a lot of the life-jacket mountable knife options out there; I've found most paddling knives to be single-minded rescue tools that are usually pretty dull and only work thanks to a serrated blade. This knife is a razor-sharp and rust resistant, with an excellent sheath that provides multiple carry options. You can slip the sheath inside the waistband of pair of swim trunks, onto your belt, or mount it on your life jacket... the options are endless. The knife also holds well in the sheath without the snap in place, but the blade is so sharp, you'll want the safety of the snap. Overall this is an exceptional water knife and I'm excited to punish it over many years. The only two downsides I've found are the Sanoprene handle can dent a little more easily than you'd expect, and the rubber snap strap rubs against your skin if you slip the sheath into your swim trunks. Otherwise, this is nearly perfect.
This is a phenomenal EDC fixed blade. While anyone who can read will know that the blade itself is rather small, it’s more than enough for the majority of tasks encountered on the water. And the steel seems to balance corrosion and toughness well. While the design doesn’t stray too far from other available options, the sheath is really excellent. Clip works perfect for me for inside the waistband of board shorts when fishing the beach or on the bow of a skiff, and also works well for belt carry.
The size just simply isn’t a drawback on this knife. It’s nimble and easy to use, I have great control for cutting mangoes, opening packages, carving if need be. The magnacut will last a long time, and the handle is very grippy and comfortable in my hand.
I bought this knife for fishing and boating. Excellent knife, I'm really happy with it. As with all my Benchmade knifes this is worth the money. Great for saltwater activities! I never go on my boat without it.
To be fair i should have looked at the exact measurement of the blade length. However this knife is really small. Also for a fixed blade the handle length could have also been increased if they had to keep the blade length so short. This knife wad returned since my mini griptilian seemed more effective as an edc. If they scaled it up to a fullsize griptilian blade length that would be more useful.
Yes, the blade length is noted in the product description but you need to see this knife in hand before you buy. It is overall very small and while "pack light and win the fight" seems to be the theme a larger handle would have improved this knife FOR ME significantly. Well constructed and attractive otherwise as one would expect from Benchmade. I returned this and will end up buying the larger Undercurrent.
I was really excited to get this Benchmade knife as a small fishing fixed blade. However, when I received it, I noticed that the blade was stonewashed. This knife is supposed to be part of the Water Series with MagnaCut steel, and stonewashing the blade puts small scratches on it(to be put simply), which make it more prone to rust. This is a very disappointing oversight from Benchmade.
Nice little knife but way too pricey and the sheath is not secure enough to use on a life jacket. I returned it.
