Daily Driver in dry climates
I am a big fan of soft shells for my daily ski touring, ice climbing, and mountaineering needs in the American West. These pants have held up to several harsh seasons, with 200+ days of hard wear, and are still going strong. In addition to using them from October through May in Montana and Colorado, I also took them to the Alaska Range as my only pant, which ended up being a great choice. Outside of wet conditions, there is nothing this pant isn't appropriate for, and it has felt equally at home climbing technical pitches, skinning fast, and descending with comfort. The new PFAS Free iteration is thankfully just as tough and rugged, and better for the planet.
Great Ski Pants
I recently spent seven days skiing at Sun Valley, and these pants performed exceptionally well throughout the trip. Despite encountering heavy wet snow for four days, I remained dry. Additionally, on two single-degree days, I stayed warm with my thermal base layer. The soft shell material is both soft and flexible, and I appreciate that these pants are available in a Short inseam. Note - I didn’t have to expand the leg openings to fit over my Tecnica ski boots. I am not sure why Arc’Teryx doesn’t sell more of their pants with a short inseam. Also, why not sell these with a Gore-Tex option?
Ideal ski touring pant, great winter versatility
Excellent all-around ski touring pant with nice stretch and mobility. I like the pocket placement and the adjustable belt tab around the waist. The straight leg fit looks nice and trim. The cuff zippers open to fit around a ski boot or zip down tight for a more snug fit over mountaineering/ice boots. There's a very light fuzzy fleece lining on the interior, not enough to make them too hot but enough for a touch of warmth. The fabric repels water nicely, although I wouldn't wear the pant in a heavy deluge. For all-around winter wear in the Wasatch it's perfect. This pant's stretchiness is really the hero here—it lets me maneuver comfortably through kick turns, bootpacks, and scrambles. My last pair of these lasted through multiple seasons of extremely heavy use/abuse. Psyched to have this updated pair. Note, while I'm female, I'm tall and appreciate the longer inseam of Arc'teryx men's pants. (The women's aren't always available in Tall inseams.)
Great pants for touring.
Great pant for ski touring. They do have a clip in point for your beacon in the thigh pocket. This was not mentioned Arcteryx's information and features about the product on the website. That feature is important to me. I wish they came with suspender or Arcteryx sold them. Also a second thigh pocket would be useful to me. High quality and attention to detail. I absolutely love that these come in a short inseam.
Poor fit for anyone but a tall skinny person
As with all Arcteryx gear I’ve tried the past few years, the fit on these is way too tight and long. They are like putting on a pair of skinny jeans. Unless you are tall and skinny these are not likely to fit. Arcteryx, do better. Your gear fit a wider range of body types for many years but no longer works for more muscular or stocky builds. Other brands have a significantly better sizing options.

We strive to design gear that supports a wide range of body types and activities, and your input helps us improve, and we’ll share your comments with our design team as we continue to evaluate and expand our sizing options. If you need help finding a better fit, our Guest Services team would be happy to assist!
Great for ADK winter backpacking
Pockets, nice. Vent zipper, could be 2 inches longer but also nice. Pant durability, nice. Love these for winter backpacking with high vertical as the vents and soft shell permeable fabric keep me dry but protected. That said, these are not for rain. At all I’d argue. Snow is fine though as the leg heat will dry the pants everywhere except around the missing and down which is typical. Overall… nice.
So happy with it!
This is the pant I use most time as a professional Mountainguide for skitouring. Size is a bit big, so normally I wear L, here M fits perfectly and still a bit bagy. Very lightweight I wear it with long underpants in winter or eg in Norway or higher altirude, as well as wirhout long underwear in spring … definitely one of my favorits!
Nice sizing, loss of features
Pants work great and revised sizing instead of S, M, L and XL helps prevent having to wear pants that are too big. The exclusion of suspenders and loss of mesh in the vents is a downgrade from my previous version a few years ago - hopefully these features will be included in future versions.
Truly great touring pants
A really great pair of pants for touring, but could also work well for fine mechanical uplift days. All the features you need are there, but nothing superfluous
