KUHL  Frost Soft-Shell Pants - Women's

Not what I thought, these are more like snow pants. They are not work ready, more like walking the dog ready. Shiny, loud material when you walk like snowpants do. The lining is nice, the fit was off for me. I am a size 12, they sit right on the hips so cut into my stomach. These are smaller through thigh area and the drop in these are small. Not great for me with a backside and thicker thighs. Returned.

I just received these today. The fit is beautiful - like a great pair of jeans or hiking pants. Plan to get another pair to have two for cold winters in CO. Well made w reasonable pricing. The back zippers on the lower pant legs will be great when wearing various types of boots to assure a great fit.

I’ve owned 2 pairs of these for a few years because they’re so warm, flexible, versatile and comfortable when it’s cold out. They’re wind resistant and warm without being bulky or hot. The older pair has held up through 5 years of regular wear throughout winter. I intend to replace them when needed because they’re pay for themselves in time. Initially the shininess bothered me but I’ve found tops that compliment them well enough. I’m getting the jacket to match. The back leg zipper allows a smoother look when I’m wearing snow boots. I’m between sizes as my weight fluctuates in menopause but I always get compliments when I wear these fitted. Size 8 has suited me well when my weight fluctuates between 130-138. Size 6 for 125-130 lbs.

I bought 3 pairs of Kuhl Frost softshell pants for my outdoor needs, but the zippers will not lock and stay closed. Whether you size up or even just hold the pants in hand and test the zipper, it doesn't lock - in other words, it's a product defect. I contacted them about a replacement zipper, including sending required pictures, and they wrote back saying that the problem must be that I put the zipper under "excess tension." Yes, despite the fact that it's industry standard for casual pants (softshell, jeans, etc.) to use zippers that lock and hold - to the point that the rigorous enclosure of womens pants has become a frequent topic of comedy - Kuhl has failed this basic requirement of producing womens activewear and blames its consumers for that. They would not fix the zippers but offered me 30% off if I wanted to buy more defective products.

These are my go-to pants for stormy day hiking. They’re waterproof and the lining is warm. Kuhl replaced the snap with a button, which was a needed upgrade over older versions of the same pant. Don’t expect them to breathe. They’re made for cold weather. The fit flatters my low curve body.
