I'm very happy with these so far, they are warm and waterproof, give enough support and are great for me as someone with wider feet, usually I wear size 11 shoes so for these a size 13 was perfect. They are also a good in between if you don't need anything super technical but still want good boots for glaciers and rocky trails, they are comfortable enough I could wear them just for a pretty casual hike.
I need a boot that I can give me a little more insulation than my Cresta Hiking boots in Winter. CHECK I'd love to have a boot with a lacing system that locks the heel in place and are not bricks. CHECK I need a boot that is waterproof. I've seen reviews with the boots submerged in water. CHECK This boot is way more than I need for my winter forays Hiking / Snowshoeing/ and standing in winter for hours while out shooting wildlife and Auroras, but it sure does check the necessary boxes. CHECK I'll put them to the test tomorrow with a sunrise photoshoot with some owls in the single digits. I'll followup with a wearability review later. And a previous review mentioned wearing a size 11 but bought size 13. I am a 10.5 but occasionally size up to 11.. I went in to REI to see what size I should get. Since I would have ordered 11 and I wanted to get a boot that would allow me to wear a beefy boot sock. So with my Alpaca Heavyweight sock, the 11 fit perfectly. I just want to say, if you can, try to size them up before ordering if you can.
I usually wear size 8 for boots and 8.5 for insulated boots. 8.5 fit perfect with both a thick wool sock and Fox River sock liner. I usually have fitting issues with most boots (Too much heel movement & painfully tight on toes and mid foot) however this boot fit me perfectly along with all the other Lowas I have. This was also personally the most comfortable and easy to walk in mountaineering boot I have worn.
