Bought these thinking they'd be like the Renegade GTX Lo's I've previously bought multiple times over the years. But, no, they're not. These are like a different shoe that someone tried to style to be made to sort of look like Renegade GTX Lo's. But, these are less substantial, less beefy, have a lot less vertical space for toes, and, overall, just seems like an effort by Lowa to make an extra buck by selling a knock off of there own shoe. Long story, short, "Evo" seems like a joke. I've returned these. Seems Lowa has now lost someone who would have been a customer for the rest of their life. Never again.
I've gone through several pairs of Renegade GTX Lo's over the years. Absolutely loved them. Sad to discover this "Evo" version is not, in fact, the Renegade GTX Lo of the past. The Renegade Evo GTX Lo is less substantial, less beefy, and clearly scaled down to save on manufacturing costs. It very much looks like some other shoe that was styled to make it look as similar as possible to the Renegade GTX Lo. Anyhow, I'm returning the "Evo" shoes I just received; don't have any interest in them. Disappointed in Lowa; they've lost someone who would have been a customer for the rest of their life.
My husband has been wearing this shoe for several years. The pair we just bought was the same price as usual, but there are no longer hooks at the top for securing laces. He really loved those hooks but he's going to try to adjust. May have to find a different shoe next time though.
Forget these EVO Lowas. They are simply not the same shoe as the previous version with the two ever convenient hooks (vs the usual eyelets). I bought at least ten pairs of the older model after foot surgery 5 years ago. I loved those! Not these!!! No hooks. Less substantial. Just an expensive, cheap-feeling pair of shoes. I returned the two pair that I bought. Bummer Lowa!!
I have been wearing Renegade GTX for years and continue to come back to them. Yes, this is not the same shoe I purchased 10 years ago but I like it just as much or better. I am 76 years old and still backpacking with Lowa boots, but I wear this shoe as my everyday walking shoe because it is very comfortable. This shoe fits my narrow foot better than most of the other brands and the sole seems to be wearing much better than the older GTX boots and shoes did.
Don’t believe the other less than stellar reviews. These Lowas are still one of the best hiking; and all around shoes ever made period. I ordered the new and improved model a month ago, and just pulled the trigger again on another pair. As a long time Lowa user, I highly recommend the Olive and Espresso colors.
Good shoes with firm soles. A bit narrow for my feet.
