I have owned 3 spitfires. Warmth good. Style excellent. HOWEVER don’t recommend hiking in it. They tear easily. Thus I’m about to buy my fourth. Love kuhl. Sizing: A hair on the small side

Couldn't warm it's way out of a wet paper bag.

Suffered with this for 2 years. Today reminded me how awful this jacket is. 60F degrees and even with layering a heavy sweater underneath I was still freezing even under the sun. Maybe it's just suited to keep you warm at the beach in July? Jacket is also falling apart, flimsy supports, flimsy patches, and stitching coming out everywhere resultig in stuffing material will over the place ( was a cold jacket even before losing stuffing. I would not recommend this jacket to anyone except maybe in July at the beach.

Superior Performance & Design

I bought the Spyfire in November 2023 (now January 2025). Probably the favorite winter coat that I’ve ever owned. It’s performed particularly well during the recent cold snap and snow in the mid-Atlantic. When hiking in the 20s and 30s with wind, I pretty quickly shed every layer but my t-shirt and the Spyfire. I’ve owned colder-weather coats, but they were much (much) bulkier, much more expensive, and for a specific technical purpose. The Spyfire is an excellent, daily winter coat with superior design, comfort, and value (especially if you appreciate lots of pockets).

Great jacket

I love my Spyfire down jacket. A friend of mine wore his to West Yellowstone last winter and I loved how it looked and fit him. I got home and bought one. Very warm (despite what the one star rating person said) and stylish. Thinking about buying the Spyfire hoodie now.

Almost always preferred over my ghost whisperer

It’s crazy that this jacket has been out forever and no reviews on it yet! I know KUHL can been viewed more as as mountain wear for the city, but this jacket performs! It weighs more than some of the ultralight options such as the ghost whisperer at 16oz but the features and extra warmth are worth it. I wear my ghost whisperer if I’m really trying to save weight and it’s not too cold but in the winter, I’m bringing the Spyfire!

Great jacket

Love this jacket. Warm, comfortable, and sleek. Went in looking to buy the Patagonia nano puff and after trying both jackets, I walked out with this one. A little more expensive, but for was perfect and range of motion was fantastic.

fits well, could be warmer

Fits and looks great but it’s not as warm as I would have hoped for the cost. Sheds too many feathers. Lots of pockets which is great. Overall, it’s not a terrible buy but there are likely better jackets out there for the cost

Great Jacket

Great jacket. Do not agree with the person who gave it a one star. Have worn this jacket in less than 30 F over a merino wool tshirt and it keeps me warm. Looks very stylish too! Definitely recommend.

Great jacket! Used it in the Smokeys in late November while camping and hiking and did wonderfully, kept me really warm. Currently residing in the midwest and is doing well in temps just under 30F and love wearing it.

Ok but odd design

Bought and used in 30-40 degree NC climate. This jacket is 800 fill but has nylon points where it ventilates if you’re active. I think it’s good about 40-50 degrees or, if you’re active enough, maybe 30s. Better as urban wear than a technical jacket. Returning since I want a jacket that is a little more moderate in its ability to hold in heat.

Another great jacket from Kuhl!

Purchased this for an about town (San Francisco is always cold) jacket, as well as for a light but warm camping jacket. Cozy from the moment you put it on, with lots of pockets and a hood that doesn't get in the way when you put it on or leave it off. Destined to join my Kuhl The One lined wind-breaker as my most "grab and go" jackets. Note, the fit is on the slender side, which I like. But be careful if you plan on wearing heavy sweaters beneath it.
