Sizing Notes

For boots: Add one half size to your street shoe size. You should be able to slip one finger behind your heel when you are standing up with the boot unlaced and your toes touching the front. If the boot is too short, your toes will get smashed walking downhill. Too long and your heel will slide up and down and give you blisters.

Better heel fit than Men’s Skwama

I’m like the Snow White for shoes. Some shoes just don’t fit my wide toes but small heels. The closest one that fits my feet were the Men’s Skwamas. When I heard that La Sportiva made a women’s version with smaller heels, I literally ordered a pair to try right away as soon as it was available. Alas, I finally found shoes that FIT MY SMALL HEELS! YES! Heel hook everything. No more bulby heels.

Something happened to the sizing

Something happened to the sizing - I have work La Sportiva women’s climbing shoes since 2013 and have always been 39.5 in any model - solution, skwama, Miura VS, Miura Lace up, and Otaki. these arrived yesterday and when I tried them on a I could barely fit my foot on. Disappointed. Great service from REI so I’ll be returning. Just really needed these shoes for this weekend.

The shoe fits perfect/ looks like it’s used

Excited to get these shoes since the have a wider fit! They fit great but they definitely look like someone has used them. For paying over $200 it would be nice to not have scuff marks and dirt on them.

Love love love

Been climbing in old/used shoes for a long time and was finally ready to purchase a pair. I ordered so many and had so much trouble with sizing/fit as I have a narrow heel but need a larger toe box as well as one foot slightly larger than the other. These felt the best of any I ordered/tried on when I first put them on in store, and got even better the more I've worn them. They'll molded to my feet and are now perfect. The toe control is amazing, I love them. Wanted to keep them nice but have ended up wearing them as much as possible...

Super solid shoe choice

I got these shoes because I needed another pair while my main shoes were sent off to go be repaired. I did a lot of research specifically on shoes with wider toe boxes—I ended up with these snd I’m so glad I did! My only real complaint is the heel cup. It feels like there’s a lot of dead space and I can hear/feel the air coming out sometimes when I walk around the gym way more than I would expect. The top of the heel also digs in a bit which is annoying and a little painful, but has lessened a bit the more I’ve worn them and broken them in. Overall, I’m super content with these shoes as my backup pair!

Amazing fit

These shoes fit my feet perfectly which is a hard feat to accomplish (no pun intended). I wear an articulating plastic brace on my right foot and have been wearing two different sizes of shoes in two different brands to make it work. I tried these on and to my surprise, my brace fit in the shoe and my toes weren’t crunched to an unbearable degree. Great sensitivity, great rubber. I couldn’t be happier with my first pair of matching shoes. After purchasing these, my climbing has progressed. That is a huge testament to the skwamas. Thank you to rei and La Sportiva for making such a versatile shoe that fits like a glove and performs well on overhangs, slab and steep terrain. The toe box is wide enough to fit my duck feet and the heel is narrow enough to fit the shape of my foot. Also, comfortable enough to wear for hours. 5 stars!!

Almost perfect!

This has become one of my designated shoes for outdoor climbing! The softness of the shoe is excellent for smearing while still having enough of a toe for most edging, the rubber on the toe is excellent for toe hooking, and the wide forefront of this shoe is perfection for those with wide feet!! My only complaint with the shoe is the molded heel cup. Not only is it too big and leaves dead space, but the top of the heel cup tends to dig into the back of my heel after extended use, despite having owned these shoes for quite some time now. I am a US women's 8.5 in street shoes and got these in a 39EU (w7.5) for a performance fit. I probably could have sized down another half size as these do stretch, but I am still content with the size I ended up with. These are an excellent shoe for all types of climbing, indoor and out!

Best Fresh

I have owned 3 pairs of Skwamas, both mens and womens version. Overall, they are good shoes and work well as all arounders, not seeming to stand out in one specific area. They are quite comfortable for my wide forefoot, and the womens model fits my narrow heel better than the mens. My biggest complaint is that after a few months of wear, the leather upper stretches causing the heel to lose its firm fit. Once the heel bags out, they become very unreliable on technical heel hooks. Even downsizing 2 sizes from street size (43 in street shoes, 41 in skwamas), the heel fits perfect at first but progressively bags out and becomes less functional over time. Some decline in function should be expected with wear and tear, but the performance of these shoes significantly decreases over time compared to other models.

Skwama for the win

Was looking for a replacement shoe after my La Sportiva Kubo made their last send and the Skwama was a great alternative! The Skwama and the Kubo have very similar softness/flexibility that I was looking for, but, the Skwama has a little extra oomph - which in reality might just be the fresh edge of a new shoe... I purchased the same size in both shoes and the Skwama were much easier to break in.

Favorite Shoe

I am a climber with a very wide forefoot but a small, low-volume heel. This shoe is the best shoe I have found for my foot. I wondered if they would be too sensitive as a heavier male climber (weigh about 155-160), but the sensitivity is great for me. I love the rounded toe of the Skwama. Somehow this shoe is great on both steep boulders/sport routes and even on slab. Would want a stiffer shoe if your going to be standing on really, really small foot jibs on very vertical terrain. I have noticed that I really love this shoe particularly on sandstone (Chattanooga/New River Gorge). I wear a size 42 street shoe and wear these in a 39. I have to wear plastic bag for break-in period. Weirdly, despite being so tight, the shoes still don't hurt too much while breaking in.
