Icebreaker  Merino 260 Quantum Long-Sleeve Zip Hoodie - Men's

This jacket is a big downgrade from prior years, I have been buying these for years after my father showed me how great they are. This years model has a zipper so small, fiddly and difficult that I am thinking of returning the jacket and switching to something else. The jacket is still made of the same very soft material, although it seems like they have reduced some portions of it too such as the lining of the zipper. Very weird move for a previously successful product

Icebreaker seems to be on a path of cutting serious corners on quality while still charging high-end prices. The zipper on this hoodie feels like something I'd expect to find on hoodie costing $20 or less. Flimsy, not smooth. The fabric is already piling after a couple washes. An Icebreaker Quantum hoodie I bought last year also had a poor quality zipper, but apparently that one wasn't cheap enough, as this one is even worse. It's sad to see what used to be a great brand choose to flush its reputation down the toilet in the name of profiteering.

I’ve worn the Quantum for the last 8 years and have purchase many lasting around 2 years. They have in the past suffered from thinning and eventually disintegrating on the elbows and on the hem and side seam close to the trouser pocket area t (maybe a good place to strengthen the design but wait to add these pics here as this was the old design but I’ll send them if asked) I still prefer the double zip design as the heavier front panel kept the from Zip flat and not lumpy (really NOT a fan if the new front panel and the zip feels flimsy) I’ll grant them the front pocket area is an improvement as it iron flatter than the old. . while moving to full 100% wool mashed it light and warmer i still miss the from structure of old. Also why make the front icebreaker label in such a bad material. After 1 wash it looks a mess - see picture. Add strengthening to elbows an hem.

The hoodie is comfortable, warm, and does what it is designed for. The material is soft to the touch, and since it is wool, it should be great for travel and adventure. The only issue is the main zipper. It is pretty disappointing. The teeth are small, and it is, at times, hard to zip. Too bad because, except for that, this is perfect.

I have a lot of Merino wool - multiple base and mid layers and other will products. I love wool. But this hoodie is way over sold. It is ridiculously thin and not close to the warmth that is advertised. The hood on the hoodie can not be fitted to your head. Way over priced. I almost fell like 1 star

I have one of these quantum 260 hoodies, it is not in this colour but is in a lovely soft slightly slate blue. It is my go to hoody for relaxing and for trekking when I want to have the convenience of a hood that I can pull on at any time rather than use a beanie, or as an addition to a beanie. It keeps its shape well and looks smart as well as doing a great job on the hill. Quality, ordering, delivery are all excellent and I have used icebreaker for years.

(This review was collected as part of a promotion.) Exceptional quality and warmth. My only negative comment is that is noticeably heavier in physical weight compared to my other dedicated midlayers. So not ideal for backpacking although this is really what I wanted it for given the odor protection offered by Icebreaker's Merino

I wore mine almost everyday all last winter with no issues. I find it to be an excellent mid weight layer. No issues with my zipper. They run a little small I would size up. For 100% merino, hard to beat the price.
