I purchased this coat for a trip to Amsterdam, Geneva, and Lyon in December. I wanted a coat that was warm, waterproof, and city stylish. This coat checked all those boxes! One review didn't like the magnetic "buttons" over the zipper, but I liked the magnets, an added protection against cold and rain. I'm 70, 5'6", 156 lbs. Medium usually fits but Kuhl sometimes runs small (they make feminine clothing with a closer fit). I ordered a Medium and Large. The large coat fit better. Kuhl is pricey but worth the money, in my opinion. I have purchased many Kuhl clothes, appreciate their attention to detail and durablity. I try to purchase from REI to add to my rewards.
Sizes are not always the same with all products. I bought a large in this insulated jacket because past experience has shown me that some of the jackets run small some are perfect medium, including fleece jackets and fit me just right. So I ordered a medium, tried it on and then returned it as it was too small. The large is pretty good, but sometimes I'm hesitant to order because I'm not sure if I'll have to go through that again.. As I said many of the products in a size medium fit me perfectly but especially with the rain type jackets and some of the winter ones the medium is too small.
I purchased this coat for a trip to New Zealand where the weather in early Nov could be pretty variable, especially on the south coasts. I needed something waterproof, thick, and preferably long so I could sit on it on wet surfaces. This coat checked all the boxes. I am so, so glad I decided on this purchase! This coat kept me so warm and dry. To test it, I even stood at the bow of the ship during a departure getting soaked with water spray and it was dry in no time and continued to keep me warm and dry the remainder of the 3hr cruise. I LOVED the magnetic closures instead of snaps. The hood stays put, even in strong winds. I ordered a Large and am 5’10’’ 150#, Bust 34.5 in Waist 29.5i , Hips 40in, and it was a perfect fit with a thick sweater underneath. I’m very pleased to have gone with a Large versus a Medium.
Overall I liked the jacket, but I had 2 issues. One was the giant KÜHL branding on the hood. The subtle logo on the sleeve is tolerable to me, but I don’t care to be a walking billboard. Second, I was excited about the magnets down the front because I thought they would work similarly to snaps. But the magnets are weak and pull apart very easily. If you are using the coat’s zipper, the magnets can hold the fabric closed over the zipper. But if you want to use the magnets to hold the coat closed - WITHOUT first engaging the zipper - it’s not very functional because the slightest movement will pull the magnets apart. Had the magnets been strong enough to hold the jacket closed without the zipper, I might well have kept it. But the huge KÜHL branding was still a turnoff.
Purchased this jacket about two months ago. The silhouette is beautiful and the jacket is true to size but that's about it. There is a huge obnoxious Kuhl logo over the hood. The right pocket zipper has already broken and it's absolutely not waterproof. We've had atmospheric rivers in the PNW recently and I put this jacket to the test and it failed miserably. Pretty disappointed as my other Kuhl clothing has been excellent and will be returning to REI.
I waited to review after wearing the jacket for a while. I am so pleased with it. Fit, style, function are excellent. Our winter in Minnesota is fully underway so the jacket got good testing. It’s warm, the pockets are large enough to store bulky gloves and the exterior really protests me from wind. Kuhl has become my go to clothing. Great quality.
There are several reasons I am a Kühl fan and love this coat. I find all the Kühl products are great; well made, thoughtful features, like well place pockets, and the price is reasonable . This coat is no exception. I like the magnetic closure on the front. Gone are the over snaps or buttons. The zipper is easy to maneuver and I have no problems with aligning the two sides to zip up. I love the zipper pockets under the material flap as they are a little hidden. The adjustable wrists are a plus for cold weather. The lining is soft and warm along with sheds the rain. I was able to fold it to pack in the outside pocket of my carryon for the unpredictable weather in EU in spring. It was perfect. I could still layer underneath for cold mornings. I also like it is long enough to keep my bum warm and dry. I normally wear a large. I ordered an XL so I could layer. As the coat is a bit stretchy, I found the XL not needed and returned it for a L. (5’5”, 160lb, curvy)
We love, love, love our Stretch Voyagrs. Both my wife and I have one and they are sooo comfortable and reliably weatherproof, we find ourselves wearing it even if it is only cold and windy because the quality of the shell is so good. We have a size up so we can layer - and find you don't need a lot of layers under it.
Sizes can be funny, but actually the best product around I did have to return a size medium, which fits me in other Kuhl products but not in some outdoor jackets however, I really looked around at other brands , even ordered and return some other brands. This is just the warmest most stylish jacket of its kind around..
This coat is warm and, with the stretch, very comfortable. I went with a medium (I am usually between small and medium/size 6 most of the time) to ensure it would fit well over sweaters and it is a bit baggier than I’d prefer, though I still love the jacket. The length is perfect.
