Durable and protective - climber approved!
I've been on the hunt for a tougher midlayer for climbing, and I've finally found it in this jacket. It provides enough insulation for a light layer underneath and offers excellent protection against sharp rock, such as the terrain at Joshua Tree. I've really put it to the test on my recent trips and am impressed with its durability. The only downside for me is the fit—it runs quite long and a bit baggy in the shoulders. I've found that the non-hoody version is more cropped and fitted, which I prefer for climbing and mobility.
Sleek, Comfortable, and Perfect for Fall
I was torn between the black and Yukon colors but ultimately went with Yukon for a more unique and vibrant look. It really adds some color to my wardrobe, and I’m happy with the choice! The fit is quite slim and flattering—just the right amount of snug without being too tight. It’s perfect for fall weather, offering great wind resistance while still being soft and comfortable to wear. Overall, it’s a great addition to my outdoor gear, combining style with functionality.
Weird fit
This jacket fits weird. I own around 50 Arcteryx pieces and typically wear an XS for tops and they usually fit perfectly or slightly oversized (the Beta IS for example). This jacket fits me perfectly in the body but the shoulders and arms are tight. I don’t have abnormally large shoulders or arms and comparing it to the fit of all my other pieces— they’re just small. I’ll still wear this but since I can’t really wear layers underneath without the sleeves getting super tight it’s not good for as much as I’d hoped it’d be good for. I would size up but the body is already roomy in the XS and I think the S would be huge. Oh well…
Gamma Hoody
Ordered this jacket in Alpenglow and loved it, beautiful colour, great fit, hood. Only reason I decided to return it is I think It still will be too warm for the purpose I wanted to use it. It wasn't an easy decision as i really liked it. If it had pit zips I would definitely keep it. Only week later I came across Gamma lightweight in the shop and fell in love with it. It seems like perfect jacket for all my outdoor adventures but why there are only such a dull colours? Please make it in some rich purple colour, alpenglow or electra. I was waiting 5 years for Alpha SV to come in some decent colour and got it finally this year in soulsonic. Hopefully Gamma LT will come in some bright colour sooner than that.
Women paying the same for less
Why do the men get 4 pockets for the same price? This lack of consideration and thought in design is sexist and just unfair as a female consumer. Fit doesn’t transfer well between the men’s and women’s so buying an equivalent size isn’t really an option. Why do I get less for the same price? The jacket should either be cheaper or should be redesigned to include the quad pockets featured in the Men’s Gamma Hoody designs.
LOVE this jacket!!
LOVE this jacket. Great for most kinds of weather here in AZ. The fabric is fantastic. Not crunchy or loud. Very soft. I wore it in the rain and the wind and it was great on both days. It is my new go to jacket. Plus I get lots of compliments on the color (aster).
I LOVE THIS JACKET
I love this for well.. For everything. running, climbing, cycling! Its a light layer yet has saved my butt when the wind comes. or if its really hot- ill just have this wind layer on with a sports braw. its the best thing ever people
Great Softshell With Room for Improvement
Solid Gamma hoodie from Arc'teryx. The material is durable and stretchy, great for light hikes. The design is sleek, but the zipper could be smoother. Love the color, just a minor con. 4.5/5, would still recommend.
Great material
My wife hiking without the new Arc’teryx, not only the material but also the style. We love the products from Arc’teryx. We are planing to get a Gamma jacket for granddad.
