Smartwool  Active Fleece Tights - Men's

I don't see "made for cycling" in the description here so they deserve at least 4 stars, but I wanted them for that and they were in the store among the cycling garb. I wanted something for colder days riding (below 50F) rather than my winter tights that are good below freezing. These might work great for that. I like the fit, the look of these tights, and they are super comfortable. Unfortunately, I am sewing the crotch back together repeatedly. Maybe if I were just hiking and xc skiing, they would be a 5 star.

Warm but thin. Ideal for running in the fall and winter. They're just right for temps from 50F down into the 20s, even in the rain. If they're used as an outer layer, I do find that it's necessary to wear some sort of underwear or half-tight underneath, both for support and for extra insulation in colder temps. They work well as a base layer too, for something like skiing or hiking. The reflective stitching is nice to have, but it's such a narrow line that I wouldn't ever rely on it alone for safety in the dark. I'm 6' tall and the size M fits pretty well. Any taller than that, or if you have long legs, and you'll probably want a large.

Bought these when I started running again (in winter: what was I thinking). These tights are the only reason I've stuck with it. They are warm enough while I am running and remain so durnng the cool down. So comfortable I wore them lounging around the house the other day when I procrastinated my run. I understand my wife's love of yoga pants now. I could wish for no center seam in front but in practice it doesn't try to cut me in half so it is surprisingly ok. I hope they are durable but will likely buy them again anyway as long as they last a decent amount of time since I really like them. Great for layereing on really cold days for a day outside. 6'3' 230# Large frame, fairly athletic. Size Large.

Fits nice, is warm for me. The drawstring however stretches out for what seems like forever when tightening them around my waste. This makes a little cumbersome to secure the pants. The back pocket could be bigger, but the issue is with the leg pocket. It's simply not deep enough for a phone, or at least a Samsung S20+. As soon as I started an up tempo running pass the phone flew out. Also, why one pocket and not one for each leg? Lastly, and this isn't a big issue, but the leg length is long enough to pull them over the heel and ankle, which can give your ankles an extra layer. I'm 6' 2', so taller runners will have some appreciable extra leg material. For shorter runs you'll have a little bunching on the lower leg.

Hands down the best pair of running tights I have ever owned. Most important, they are warm, comfortable, and fit well. Can't speak highly enough of the design and cut after having used two different brands over the past several years, one of which was woefully short (I'm 6'4') and the other which was so ill-fitting that I found myself constantly pulling them up during my runs. Old-school men's running tights seem to be out of vogue these days, so can't believe my luck in finding this pair. Worth every penny (correction: nickel).

I was late to the Smartwool game, but am now a big fan. I use the men's active fleece tights as a base layer under my ski pants and love them. They are a great combination of warm and flexible. I will also throw them on under my jeans when I need to get the pups out on a walk on a below freezing day. Overall there is not much about them I would change. Since I am using them for skiing, a zippered lower leg would be helpful to get them above the ski boots comfortably, but again that is not their designed purpose.

Just bought my second pair. I love these running tights overall; they keep me warm while running in temperatures down to -10C. They are comfortable and provide a bit of compression, which is helpful for longer runs. Honestly, I am not a big fan of the new elastic waist tie; I prefer the older non-elastic one. On the wear side, my old ones have started wearing through in the unusual suspect area, I would say after about 1. 5-2 years. But not so bad that they are unusable yet.

Great buy. I use them for cold jogs in mountainous areas. No issues with them. I love the back pocket for my keys.

I got these tights for running and cycling in winter. For the 20-50º range, they are the perfect weight and breathability. I like the fit, not loose but not too tight around the thighs. I am an honest 32"" waist, and the mediums were borderline tight around the waist, if you are any bigger get the large. I considered the wind-stopper tights, but am glad I got these instead - warm enough and breathable enough.

Nice quality, traps heat and keeps close to the body, soft material, I am 5'6' 160 lbs. , 33' waist, with athletic build, I normally wear a size Medium and had to size up to Large for a more comfortable fit, I also prefer tights designed without the leg stripes wrapping around the legs, the stripes provide reflection at nighttime which is functional but the wrap around design is just not to my liking.
