Great airline personal item
MD1982

I have been using this bag for about a year now and it is fantastic as the under seat personal item for airline travel. It is nig enough to back a 2 to 4 day trip if you pack light, fits under seats. and is versatile enough to work as a day pack. Two main concerns, it it NOT comfortable for long term heavy weight wear. Second, the laptop compartment is not easily accessible if you have it full and are going through security.

The things I really like about this pack: 1) the purplish-grey color, 2) the rain cover (with its own little pouch), 3) the internal mesh pocket and internal laptop(?) sleeve, 4) the external water bottle pouches. The things that didn't work for me: 1) maybe I got one that was sewn wrong, but the two shoulder straps are so close together at the top that they literally squeeze the sides of my neck in a painful way, 2) there are so many straps, zippers, and hidden pockets that I couldn't figure out the intended uses for many of them, and 3) the waist strap falls so high up on my body that it isn't useful or comfortable for stabilization and therefore just gets caught on things as it dangles. It seems like this pack can't decide if it's for hiking or commuting and unfortunately doesn't serve either purpose as well as it could.

Heavier duty, REI FLASH Backpack

I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review.” The backpack is very much like the REI Flash backpacks. This item is thicker and is slightly padded. The Shoulder straps are stiff but still comfortable. I am short at 5 feet tall and this fits me well. It has a lot of pockets, so you may find yourself searching through all of them trying to remember where you put your passport. One pocket on the outside goes all the way in to the large part of the bag in case you just need to pull out a pair of socks. That’s handy. It has a light colored interior, so it’s easy to find things. It has a sternum strap which I love and also the hip straps. There is a nice place to place an iPad inside the pack. Here is what I was able to pack in the bag. Using packing cubes two pairs of summer pants, two turtlenecks one T-shirt two fleece lined pair of pants one for a hat, flannel PJs six pairs of socks, eight pair of underwear one bra, One pair of winter fleece gloves, and one iPad. Even though is it same style as the flash series, it appears to be much more doable for traveling.

Versatile, high quality, stylish.

I was so excited to use this backpack for work, but my husband stole it! It’s the perfect size along with being stylish enough to use for work, travel, or recreation. It’s large with a HUGE zipper opening in the biggest pocket. This is great if you need to fit something that has an odd shape like hiking boots. It works well with a standard water bladder for long hikes. It’s incredibly comfortable, and the straps have adequate padding. I love the color, it’s unique and goes with just about anything. One of my typical pet peeves with backpacks is accessory pockets that don’t have a lot of thought put into them. If I am looking for something in this backpack, it is really easy to access, and I don’t spend 10 minutes rifling through all of the zippers. I’ve used it on flights and it holds everything I need and fits nicely underneath the seat in front of me. I will likely order a second so we can both use it. Our new go-to bag! Pros- size, pocket availability and location, strap padding, color, durability Cons- your partner may steal it

Fit Under Airline Seat

Work sent me on a last minute trip with tight connections in Atlanta. Instead of checking a bag or using my rollerbag, I decided to just use a backpack. I packed for two nights in this bag and brought my work laptop. It fits under the seat on a 737 and 757 fully packed out. The gate agent was making everyone else gate check their rollerbags, I was fine. My main complaint, lack of load lifters. They would help with a heavy load. For organization, you will need packing cubes. I found my personal item travel bag.

Great everyday bag.

Just received this bag in the mail, and I'm very happy with it. Going to be using it for carrying books and everyday essentials around campus, and it's a great size. Tons of space for my books, and I love the padded laptop sleeve. I do wish there was a bit more organization for pens and such in the smaller side pocket, but absolutely not a deal breaker. All the lash points on the outside are fantastic, and I'll be running some bungee to make a spot for more storage on the back. Love the rain cover (this was a necessity and why I selected this bag). Super comfortable fit. Color is gorgeous.

A pack that can be photogenic with imagination !

A surprising Rei backpack 30L capacity, multiple slots for space, large central middle space which I will use for my photographic insert ( lenses, bodies, flashes, accessories etc ) to fit in the central slot ... I love this has large water bottle slots-2 , a phone or small electronics upper pocket, has a laptop slot or tablet slot... and has a raincover included, + has pockets to fit more fluid bottles or cans. The material seems decent that why I plan to "DIY" this pack to become a photo backpack... I like the size a lot of space but not excessive large...

Solid bag but knocking it for side zipper

Solid bag, but wish there were other colors. One knock I have on this bag is the side zipper that gives you access to the inside. If there's a hole to put a lock through the top zipper, then why is there a side zipper that can get inside that can't be locked? I actually sewed that zipper shut permanently so the side can't be used.

Great Do it all Backpack!

I was looking for a backpack mainly for work travels; however, I want one to be jack of all trades!..and definitely found one on the REI-RUCKPACK 30L one. Feels of a great quality and price point at $100 was a winners. Super comfortable for a male with wide shoulders and back! I can carry all items needed for a week’s work travels very comfortably. Two side pockets for bottles are definitely a super plus including a zippered side pockets for quick access of much needed items. Super well thought and executed. Head zippered pocket is super convenient with ample space for sunglasses and key lanyard. Another well thought out design features are outside access to hand carabiners. Great job executing a well rounded backpack.
