To replace 10 year old Mountain Hardwear soft shell jacket

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this jacket to replace my 10 year old Mountain Hardwear soft shell water repellant lined jacket. It's the closest I could find made for women. I'm on the edge of being petite so I usually go with regular sizes, as I did with this jacket. > The cuffs don't have an adjuster so I rolled a cuff. > The waist doesn't have a cinch at the bottom so I won't be wearing it in the garden or barn. The tail is a but longer, which I like, but without the cinch it isn't secure when working. In everyday wear, the wind blows up under because of fit (see next point). > The bust is snug even after sizing up. The Large originally fit better everywhere except the bust. I returned & sized up to XL for fear of busting the zipper at the first minute of actual outdoor work. Now it fits kind of like a babydoll shirt - snug on bust, roomy on belly. + Love the teddy bear lining. + Love the outside water resistant fabric. It doesn't feel like the typical soft shell jacket. +It's light weight & not thick or bulky, allowing for a feminine look. + The arms are lined so I can wear a tshirt or blouse under it & feel cozy. Overall, I like that this jacket is presentable enough to wear to the office and versatile enough to show up at the playground & be active with my children.

If you suck at life like I do buy this coat

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Listen this is a great coat kept me warm in Chicago weather but check this. I got candle wax spilt all over it. Don't ask how. I scraped it off and scrubbed w a sponge. Heavy wash twice AND ITS GONE! Stop. North face you have all my money now.

This jacket was perfect!!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I love this jacket. I wore it on a 3 week outdoor trip to Alaska the end of April (it was still cold, especially on the boats in the Gulf of Alaska). I was a bit hesitant to buy it as some of the other reviews were negative saying it wasn't warm enough. It was perfect for my needs. I bought it as part of my clothing "layering" plan. I also brought along my new Marmot Echo featherlite puff jacket as I want sure which I would use. I wore the Marmot once & the Shelby Rachel jacket the other 20 days. I wore it over my Marmot Featherlite vest most of the time. It definitely is wrong & water resistant. However, when we were on the open boats I did wear my light North Face rain jacket over it for extra wind protection (rather than wearing a heavier jacket. I also wore the rain jacket over it in heavy rain since we were out in the elements all day & if I got wet, I would have been wet all day. I was always the least bundled up since this jacket was warm (but don't think it will be your solo winter jacket in Alaska or even Wisconsin where I grew up. I'm 5'3" & weigh 115 with broad shoulders. I bought a large, again, with the intent of layering. Fits me perfectly & doesn't look too big when I don't wear anything underneath it.

True Love! (Black Matte Shine)

Words can not describe how much i love this jacket! I bought 2 of these last season, and came back again this year to buy another one. It is soft and stretchy, figure flattering, and lined with a soft furry material that feels amazing against your skin. I love the new colors this year and that fact that they change the colors every season. You can never have too many jackets, right? I bought the black matte shine color, and it's beautiful. What i like best about this color is the fact that the north face logo is actually embroidered on this jacket. The logo is gray in color. Some of the other colors of this jacket have an iron on logo instead. I much prefer the embroidered. If you are thinking about this jacket, do yourself a favor and give it a try. You will not regret this purchase!

Warm, wind breaking jacket

I bought this jacket in the Windmill Blue. This is not a color I would have chosen normally, but most of the others were sold out in my size. That said, it is a beautiful blue, a cross between aqua and sky blue. I don't think it is quite as warm as the Denali it is replacing. However, it blocks wind better than anything I own. It is big enough for me to wear layers under, which was great with the early cold snap we just had. TNF, please expand your selection in plus sizes, especially 3X. I marked this as "too small" because I am a 2x in absolutely everything else I own. I wish you would size items to be more true to size with other clothing.

Keep warm while it's cold outside. Buy this!

Before purchasing this jacket, we tried it on in the store, and it was immediately warm, so we knew it was the perfect jacket to wear in Indiana during Thanksgiving break. My wife and daughter both got one and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. They both said it was cozy, comfortable, and warm. The hoodie made it all the better as it covered their heads during the snow flurries and crazy wind gusts. When we came back to Florida, it was Florida cold. The jacket worked flawlessly during our dip in the temperature.

Love this but...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really love this jacket. The things I love is the weight of it and that it is warm. The color is almost a maroon purple brown color and it's beautiful! For the bad, I read the fit is small and I normally wear an XL, after reading reviews I got the 3xl and glad I did. It fits perfect with a little wiggle room. Also the Northface logo on the front chest and on the back is printed and not sewn, I felt this cheapened the jacket and makes it look fake/generic. Make the quality look cheap. Other than that I got this half off with my health card discount and am very satisfied overall. Thank you NF for recognizing us nurses!

I love this jacket!

I love this jacket. Great for cold weather in Southern California. I have a prior generation of this jacket. My previous jacket has held up well wash after wash and I've had it for 10+ years. There is nothing wrong with my previous jacket. And why I purchased this jacket is for the longer length in the back settling at around the hip, I'm 5'2". My previous jacket is a bit shorter settling at around the waist. The only critique about the new jacket is the heat transfer of the logo. The logo of my previous jacket (and other North Face jackets that I own) are embroidered. The embroidery lends a rich feel to the jacket.

Love this jacket!

Bought this for my 16yo who, like many teenagers, cares more about how cool she looks rather than being warm. She decided it was time for a jacket but beyond puffy jackets, options were limited. She tried this one out and loved it. She loves so many things about it ~ the color - it's not too bright & not plain black, the layer inside - it's fuzzy & cozy & keeps her warm like a thicker jacket would, the outer fabric - it is a bit waterproof so can handle a light rain, the style - it has room so she can put it on over a thicker top but also manages to be slightly form fitting. We're very happy with this purchase!
