Just got my size 47.5 in the mail. They are mindblowingly small. I’m a 47 in nearly any other European manufacturer. I ordered a 48.5 hoping they will fit because I couldn’t find a 49. Similarly received a 48 in another La Sportiva boot at the same time and had to return due to overall small size. Order up folks. Otherwise the shoe looks and feels super high tech, beautifully made, and super lightweight. Had to remove a star for their very silly sizing.
Great boot. I would agree with the previous comment they fit true to size more so than other sportive models. I am a 9.5 and 9.5 is what I ended up with. They do run a touch narrow which is typical for the brand but makes them a responsive climbing and mountaineering option. I used them for approaching alpine climbs in glaciated terrain and they did very well in that setting. Although a little snug on my foot I did not experience any foot fatigue and overall they were comfortable. I greatly appreciate the update in safer chemistry to GTX ePE - it was a main consideration when purchasing.
These unfortunately have a different 3DFlex design from Aequilibriums LT and ST. It creates a horrendous sore spot right at the 3DFlex seam on the outer side of the ankle just below the sticking out bone, lateral malleolus, identical on both feet. I barely came back from a 2 hour test hike, and after 2 weeks the spots are still sore, and redness still visible. Thanks heavens for REI return policy. Apart from that the boot is superb! I have worn La Sportivas for 30 years, and always the same size. Same this time, my street shoe size. The boot really feels almost completely transparent, everything about the lower portion and soles is the best I've ever experienced. The gaiter work great, no issues hooking unhooking. Unlike so many other boot designs these can actually be tightened close to toes due to smart design. Very sad they didn't fit. I hope they change the design to Aequilibrium or Nepal type.
