Not great wear

Within a few weeks of wear this hoody began to pill. After contacting Arc’teryx, I was to that this was normal. I realize that this does not effect the performance but it makes the garment look and feels cheap.

Overpriced an ordinary product

Nothing special, you can get similar products for a quarter of the price. Considering this Jacket is too warm for a base layer, and with this price, it does not have a zipper chest pocket or sleeves for a cellphone / Powerbar. Mostly again, this jacket does not have a ribbed hem to avoid wind getting in (I have to install one for myself), It is also running a bit large, which other products of this brand usually fit, and running small

Hi Frank. Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback on the Kyanite Hoody. It’s designed as a versatile midlayer that balances warmth, stretch, and comfort—but we understand it may not meet every use case. Your notes on sizing, pocketing, and wind protection are helpful, and we’ve shared them with our product team for consideration in future iterations.

Warm and super comfortable.

A very comfortable and stylish fleece jacket. Perfect amount of stretch and nice warmth/wieght ratio. On the negative side I bought mine about a week before changes were made to the pocket lining so on my model the lining hangs out when it's not zipped - looks like they fixed this. The material also has a weird chemical smell that has not washed out in 3 washes. (Not sure if they fixed that.) Still dig it for practical use.

Can’t imagine life without it!

Absolutely one of my all time favorite items. Utterly soft, deliciously warm, and easily packable, this is an ideal four-seasons companion. I was really sad to discover mine just disappeared from under my Kitchen Sink lid somewhere between the restaurant and the airport in of all places Singapore, where it was the perfect packable antidote to overachieving aircon. Gotta replace it, heading back to chilly Germany. Nothing else will do! That’s why I’m back at the Arcteryx site. Can’t believe there aren’t more glowing testimonials for this fabulous hoodie!

Great at First, but Durability was TERRIBLE

When I first got this, I LOVED it. It was so comfy and stretchy. It struck a great warmth balance, while still being breathable. I originally got it as a midlayer for snowboarding, but liked it so much I wore it for cool weather. So why only 2 stars? After one year, the thing looks terrible. It has started pilling badly and threads are pulling everywhere. It was replacing a North Face fleece jacket that is 20 years old that STILL looks good; the only reason I got this was "just because". I didn't need it, but after 20 years I wanted something new. And I was excited at the time. Now I am glad I did not give away my North Face because the Kyanite has worn so poorly. I have literally given away my Kyanite hoodie because it looked so poor (and have gone back to my North Face). For $200, this is unacceptable. So, for the first 2 months I give it 5 stars. For the fact that the durability is garbage, I give it 1 star. So I gave it 2 stars overall. And I own other Arcteryx gear. My raincoat is around 10 years old and still looks great. Knowing it is a good brand only make this so much more disappointing. I was considering the Atom jacket, but now I am reluctant because I don't want to spend the money if this could happen to that.

Severe pilling, major issue

I have owned this hoody for nine months. Severe pilling all over after use as an urban midlayer, cold wash and hang dry. Completely unacceptable for what amounts to a luxury item being so grubby looking from excessive pilling after such a short time. I'm contrast I have a kayanite LT of the previous generation that does not have this problem. In summary this garment is constructed from textiles of extremely poor durability and it has made me regret my purchase and lose trust in Arcterxy.

Hi Jack. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with the Kyanite Hoody. We’re sorry to hear about the pilling you’ve encountered. While some wear over time can be expected, especially with soft fleece materials, we recommend submitting a Product Service Request form so our team can assess your case. We appreciate your feedback and take it seriously as we continue to improve: https://arcteryx.com/ca/en/help/product-service/service-request

Good but could be even better

Really soft and comfortable with a great fit, zipper is pretty crappy and I don’t feel like it needs and ultra minimalist zipper. As other reviewers have mentioned the piling is excessive and happens almost immediately. For me I don’t really mind that as the interior stays crazy soft and comfortable and the exterior develops almost like a patina. Might looks worse in certain colours I dunno. Overall I’m really happy with it- purchase size L - 6’4” 195 lbs slim build. Fits perfectly

Cozy yet not bulky

I use this product during cooler temps before an activity or after. The soft fabric heats me up to a cozy temp which is appreciated during cool mornings or evenings. It doesn't feel too fitted and looks casual without being too technical. So I wear it in the city or on trail. Because its thinner but still has some weight to it I don't mind packing it in a small bag. This is also a great backcountry ski layer for cool/dry days and the hood has enough space to go over a hat.

Great colour

Second hoody purchased. Lovely new colour for my son for Christmas. arrived creased, looked a mess. I have ironed it inside out several times to improve appearance. Improved but still creased. The first one I ordered came perfect. I will iron again to keep improving, not what you should have to do. I have purchased lots of jackets etc from you don’t know where this had been stored in your warehouse but not a good experience.
