Measurements are stated in inches unless otherwise indicated. Size chart values represent body measurements, not garment measurements.
SHORT: Some pants are available in short sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 2.5 inches shorter than regular sizes.
TALL: Some pants, shirts, jackets and parkas are available in tall sizes, which generally means an inseam that is 3 inches longer and a rise that is 1 inch longer, a shirt or jacket body that is 2 inches longer, a parka body that is 2.5 inches longer and sleeves that are 2.5 inches longer than regular sizes.
Capri or cropped pants have an intentionally shorter inseam—reference the technical specs instead of this chart.
Inseam is measured to the floor.

We needed a true waterproof jacket this jacket kept us dry.
This jacket is a great wind layer, and works well against light rain. It left me basically soaked after its first proper Adirondack downpour. The REI rain/wind pants I own worked great, but this jacket left the top half of my body cold and wet. It was a rough trip, as the old tent I have finally gave up its water resistance as well.... Regardless, if you need a light jacket, this one is fine. If you need a jacket to deal with the unpredictable weather and potential for proper downpours that are common in places like the Adirondacks, I would look elsewhere.
I purchased a men's and women's jacket for myself and a friend. We hiked Grandfather Mountain for three hours, in fog, mist, steady rain, and 30 MPH wind gusts. They held up surprisingly well for this price point. By the end of the hike, the inside was a bit damp to the touch, but the hoodies we were wearing under the rain jackets were dry. Broke the wind well, and kept us warm in 30 degree wind chill, with layers underneath.
This is a very nicely made and finished jacket, meaning that stitching and seams and cords are all done perfectly. There are no loose threads or exposed, even sergered fabric edges. It actually surprised me that the jacket is this nice at a very reasonable price. The only criticism that I have for the jacket is that the size Small runs big, and I usually wear a M-L, and the Small is comfortable on me including sleeve length while moving around. Fortunately we got it for our still-growing son so it is a little big but fine while he's still growing. We haven't had it out in the rain yet and will update!
The jacket effectively keeps you dry while preventing overheating during vigorous activities. The jacket’s lightweight design makes it easy to pack and carry, ideal for both day hikes and extended trips. Zippered pockets provide convenient storage for essentials. However, while the Trailmade Rain Jacket excels in functionality, its fit might be a bit awkward for those who prefer a roomier feel or need extra layering space. Overall, it’s a dependable choice for those seeking a practical and well-designed rain jacket.
This REI Co-op Trailmade Rain Jacket proved its worth during the ultimate test - Hurricane Debby on Florida's central gulf coast. Despite the extreme conditions, I stayed completely dry. For a rain jacket to perform this well in hurricane-force wind and rain is truly impressive. If it can handle a hurricane, it can certainly manage your everyday rainy weather needs. Highly recommended for anyone seeking reliable protection from the elements.
This rain jacket from REI does nothing well. Standing still you get little protection from cold and rain, yet walk for just 5 minutes and you will sweat to death. It’s doesn’t breathe at all and leaves you to constantly unzip or remove the jacket to get any relief. It’s also terrible apart from a light shower in terms of being waterproof. Choose another jacket, you’ll be happy you did.
I've worn this jacket less than a dozen times. I just finished a 1 mile walk in moderate rain, and my arms were completely wet. The body and hood of the jacket stayed dry, but the arms did not.
I’d like to give this jacket a good review; however, I cannot do this because I never received my order. REI chose to use a subpar shipping company. The shipping company claims they “attempted to deliver” but they failed. When I looked at the shipping company’s invoice, my address was incorrect. The shipping company has no way for recipients to contact them, so I contacted REI customer service. They claim that both REI and the shipping company have the proper address. So either the shipping company is lying to me, or REI customer service is incompetent. I don’t respond well to either lies or incompetence, so I’ll get my outfitting needs filled elsewhere.
I ordered this jacket the first time in June ‘23 and wore it several times in heavy rain - very satisfactory. Sadly, I lost the jacket a couple of weeks ago, and I’d liked the first one so well that I reordered it. It arrived about an hour ago. Unfortunately, the fit is very poor and very different from the first jacket. The sleeves are much longer and the wrist holes are so large that the sleeves slip down over my hands when I extend my arms. It’s marked as a medium but may be a L or XL. I’m taking it back to the local REI store tomorrow. Very disappointing.
