hoka anacapa 2 mid gtx women

This review is regarding the Rei service not the product. A couple of months ago, I bought Hoka Anacapa2 mid gtx regular but these did not fit since too narrow for my feet. I used them several times on trails and decided to keep to use wearing light socks for short hikings insted of returning them. I've been spending so much time and money trying another brand( I ended up purchasing Renegade by Lowa anyway but it is a bit loose for the heel ) and decided to order bigger and wide size of same anacapa2 mid gtx since I am so tired of trying boots any more and I have big trails scheduled ahead in a month. I could not believe this happening to me. As soon as I receive a brand new shoes but in a torn box... the shoes seemed not new. The shoes must be stepped on some stuff ? food? and then I checked insoles and I see these shoes have been heavily used already. I am returning for exchange but what if I get another defective boots? so frustrating.

Poor craftsmanship

Grommet popped off immediately when lacing up to try the boots on. They run smaller than my other Hokas (Challenger, Bondi, and Speedgoat). Hokas are my go-to running shoes, and I wear them exclusively while working as a nurse. Really wanted to love these boots, but they are a miss. For the price I expected better quality and consistency.

Not for wide feet even if you get a wide width.

I have worn Hokas for years. I have a wide foot and currently wear Bondi's and Speedgoats in a wide width. They are excellent and comfortable and fit my foot. Now I need some hiking boots. I have tried Keen's in wide [too stiff and toes hit top of shoe] and twice tried the Anacapa 2 Mid GTX. First tried my regular size of 6.5 wide. Way too tight, even though my Speedgoats are the same size. Then tried 7.5 wide. No way these shoes are a wide. With a pair of thin socks, the entire forefront of the shoe is too narrow. I mean really narrow.

Didn’t work for me

I live by my Hoka Gaviotas for day to day life and after my feet grew during my last pregnancy and I outgrew my Merrells I thought I would give these a try. They seem like good quality but unfortunately the fit is just wrong. I got the 11 wide which is my typical size now, and the width was decent however the length and height of the shoe just didn’t work for me. My toes immediately hit the end and my high arches made the fit strange despite loosening the laces. May try a larger size and see how that goes but will probably go back to other brands I have loved instead. Didn’t seem as durable as my previous oboz or merrells but I did not get to hike in them.

Prefer original but still a decent - soft- boot

This is my third pair of Anacapa boots but this is the first second gen. version. Honestly I prefer the fit and structure of the first gen. This boot seems more narrow (in fact I had a W 10.5 in the first gen and went to a W11 in gen 2) and less supportive. I recently wore my first gen for a hike on a Friday and these on a similar hike on Sat. I was surprised at how different they felt, these are softer in all ways. I felt the rocks and roots more and they were less stable. These are very comfy and for me, they'll be set aside for groomed trails rather than mountain hikes

Narrow Toe Box

I've been wearing the previous Hoka hiking boot, Sky Toa for the last few years and have been very happy. Now Hoka changed the style to the Anacapa and I had to go up a half size. Even that isn't enough due to the narrow toe box. This style does not accommodate my medium width feet and I will be returning them.

Sad tog send back

This is my second Anacapa, I had the original when they first came out, I worn those for few years and now just need a new one, bought this in Wide and even though 6.5 they are still very narrow, and I did not feel like enough room for my wide foot. very tight and not cushion as the first one. I am not happy with these and they are going back. Now Hoka does not have any other that I can try becide Kaha which is very too high for me. Very disapoint with HoKa now.

B

I have wide feet and wear size 10 in Bondi 8s. I love my HOKAS and was excited to try this boot. The toe box definitely runs more narrow than all the other HOKAS I’ve owned. These boots are super light weight and cushioned - I think they’d make a great summer hiking boot. I may try to size up 1/2-1 size if other brands don’t work for me.

Great ankle high walking Hokas!

These are my summer is over Hokas! I love them. Fairly soft and flexible like my Clifton 9 sneakers but with ankle support and waterproof. They run a bit smaller. My Clifton’s are 9 1/2 and I needed a 10 in these. It hasn’t snowed yet but I expect good traction.

SUPER Narrow

These are the most narrow boots I have ever worn. I have narrow feet and while the length is the correct fit, I cannot comfortably wear these because they are so tight on the sides.
