Great piece from Arc’teryx
Arc’teryx has made a great piece again but I have a few gripes with it. Sizing, most people are having issues that it too small but for me it slightly on the bigger and taller size. The color of void/graphite is a lot darker in person. Other than that the product is warm and comfortable to wear on some chilly days.

Mismatched fit
I really wanted to like the Cover Cardigan, but I had to return it. The fit was generally pretty good overall, except that the underarm of sweater was like a size or two too small. When I tried it on with just a snug t-shirt it was barely passible and mildly uncomfortable, but with anything more it was just really up in there. This is not an issue I have with other brands, or even other Arc' garments. Seems like they messed something up on this style. That or they have a grading issue at the smaller sizes.

Versatile!

A versatile, sharp-looking cardigan. I really like the heathered-grey look. It can be used for any sporting adventure, as well as a more refined look for when the need arises. It is plenty warm, and of a decent thickness. The one exception I have is on the fit. Since many would want to use it as a midlayer, it would make sense to ensure this fitted underneath the same size jacket. I have the cerium, as well as several Atom jackets, and this cardigan is rather boxy-shaped and not form-fitting; kind of like Patagonia... ugh. It would have to bunch-up to fit underneath an Arcteryx jacket. I do like this cardigan though, so I am having it professionally altered.

Pills instantly. Poor quality

This jacket pulled immediately which was not expected from a synthetic fiber garment. I tried to remove the pills with a sweater stone which ended up damaging and ruining the jacket. Would NOT recommend. I’ll be donating this piece.

Hi there. Thank you for sharing your experience. The Covert Cardigan is designed for everyday comfort, but we understand your frustration with pilling. Different fabrics can react uniquely to wear and care methods, and we appreciate your feedback as we continue refining our designs.

Great product not ideal for my application

Overall I like the fit and the look very much. I bought it for travel combined with a shell, thinking it would provide me with versatility on my journey through a variety of climates and situations. For me it wasn't ideal. It didn't breathe too well making it a little bit of a pain as you are often rushing to catch transportation and the like and other than the front zipper, as a way to shed heat (which doesn't work well if you have a travel pack over your shoulders) there is no other way. The material looks great new but it does pill quite a bit particularly when used in a travel setting where you are pulling bags, cameras and the like off of your shoulders. I still have it but have replaced it with the Delta for travel. I have shaved off the pilling for the most part but but for my particular application it wasn't ideal.

Really good

I've got two of these and have been wearing one or other every day (except when the weather's too warm) for the past couple of years. It's really good - just the right balance of smart vs casual. Feels smarter than a standard fleece and it goes well with lots of other items of clothing. I'm 193cm tall and 76kg and wear a Large. The front pockets are useful. I love that it doesn't have a logo on the chest (I wouldn't have bought one if it did). Bad points: The pocket on the sleeve is useless and makes the garment look more casual than it otherwise would. There's no hook in the back of the neck so it's difficult to hang anywhere. I don't like any of this year's colours, otherwise I'd buy another.

Needs some love

Like many, I’m disappointed in the evolution of this product. - fit is larger in L and XL than previous iterations, noticeably wider in the body and looks less polished. - even a light breeze cuts right through the fabric - pilling is an issue, but it’s generally smaller than I’ve seen on traditional sweaters - collar height is a low and narrow on my neck - colours have gotten progressively worse - zippers are consistent and good - pockets are good for warm, the zipper can be sharp, great design would sandwich the teeth between more durable fabrics -length and sleeve are both good

Hi Dan. Thanks for the detailed feedback on the Covert Cardigan. We’re glad to hear the zippers, pockets, and fit in the sleeves and length are working for you, but we understand the disappointment with changes to the fit, collar, and wind resistance. The evolution of this piece is ongoing, and insights like yours help guide future refinements. We’ll pass your notes to the design team.

Not well engineered

Don’t buy. Bottom hem curls and looks sloppy. Arcteryx warranty claims it was a wear and tear issue and wouldn’t replace it. This turned me off of Arcteryx as a whole.

Does the Job for my Hiking needs.

Hiking Shepard up at 4am and on the trail by 5:45am. Fits like a second skin - no drafts between fabric to skin. Plus, the breathability works well when the body begins to heat up on elevation gains/sun peaking up from the horizon and the day begins to warm. We've had a few mornings in the 30 degree range here in Southern California and the Covert Cardigan has been my go to fleece. Do like the zipper front for added breathability when the weather begins to warm up. Well thought out utility pocket on the left arm - great for car FOB. I like to minimize stuff in my pants pockets when on long mountain hikes. With that said it could use an inside Cell phone pocket. Bonus - it looks great and Fair Trade factory produced!
