I have only had this product a few weeks, but really enjoy it. Keeps me warmer than my down waist-length jackets. Very comfortable. Be careful on sizing. I normally wear a large in Patagonia products. But the large was a little too long for me and, more importantly, was a little too open on the bottom, potentially letting cold air in. The jacket does not have a waist cinch. Although the jacket is slightly snug at my hips, it is comfortable to walk in and I use the two-way front zipper to loosen it a bit to sit or squat. Pockets are cozy and the wrist cuffs do a great job keeping out the cold. For a water- and wind-proof, parka designed for cold weather, the jacket is quite lightweight.
I am six one and 210 lb., size large fit well. Tested it in low 30-s, windy weather with just a merino base layer during walk in town. Kept warm without overheating. There is enough room for mid layer to accommodate lower temperatures. It is stylish (for a puff jacket), you do not look like the Michelin man wearing it. The jacket being durable water repellent (DWR) “only” is not an issue for me. My wife has the women’s version of the parka, and it handles light rain well enough. For anything more serious there is a Gore-Tex ski jacket.
I had to return this jacket and I hated to do it because so much about the jacket was right. Bottom line this jacket will not work for you if you are not heavy. There is no interior drawstring so you get an updraft that makes the coat not effective. Wish Patagonia would add a drawstring or an interior skirt to ward against the cold drafts.
This is a good jacket. Weight is great for travel for such a substantial parka. Material and quality are all what you would expect from Patagonia. The biggest misses for me were the lack of storm flap over the zipper and no external chest pocket. Both of these features were not deal breakers for me until I tried the parka on and they were missing. These are both fairly critical needs for me.
Needed something warm and waterproof to battle Midwest winters. This coat has been nothing short of phenomenal. Ultra light weight and freaking warm. It’s expensive but high quality. 5 out of 5 for Patagonia!
Excellent jacket but very long. I wear XL and ordered XL. The size is as expected. I have seen reviews stating the jacket is large, it is large but in length and not actual size. The jacket comes down to just above the knees. It will keep you warm on cold and windy days and it is not an issue to sit down wearing the jack as it was fine for me but if you need more room their is a zipper at the bottom to open up the jacket to allow your legs to move. If you are sitting at a football game and the seats are cold you won’t have any issues.
I just purchased the Jackson Glacier Parka yesterday. I was really eager to see how it would perform. The temperature was 28 degrees Fahrenheit with 20mph winds. It felt like 9 degrees. Well much to my surprise. This parka outperformed my expectations. The crazy thing is…I only had on a short sleeve Polo shirt. Honestly, the only thing that I felt was a little tiny coolness from my bare skin of my arms touching the actual lining of the parka. It was minimal though. Although I have 1 year to return the parka outperformed I think that I’m going to keep it. Especially getting it for 50% off the original price. This makes it a steal for what it can do. Plus I’m thinking about the great warranty from Patagonia. Amazing deal!!!!
This is a good quality jacket and very comfortable to wear, except the parka version was way too long for me 5'11"). The models in the photos must be very tall, because the length looked reasonable. I returned the parka and bought the jacket version, which met my needs perfectly.
No Patagonia label. Look I’m not super stuck up or focused on labels, but it’s kind of an oversized moo moo coat that’s not particularly flattering and it degrades not showing the quality of the item. Not having a label that is. Unfortunately returning this item. Frankly I had a better experience buying the REI camper down Parka in a more flattering blue; beware the rei jacket runs huge.
Warm, comfortable, perfect fit that lets you move and doesn't feel like you’re wearing an inflatable raft. Wrist cuffs keep the cold out and mesh seamlessly with gloves, and the hood works with glasses and goggles. I've been out in it in a windy, wet 20 degrees, and I'm sure it'll take me down below zero. Maybe not under 20-below, but for the other 95% of winter cold it’s my go-to coat.
