Cut really WIDE!
I've been buying the mossbud swirl for my kid since she was two. This shasta seems to be the replacement. She's wearing a medium now, so I bought a large and extra large to see how they would fit. Both are HUGE and fit loose on me! I literally could have worn either of these through pregnancy. What I find ironic is that women's north face jackets are cut small in the chest, like for B cups and below. This one is made for undeveloped girls and I can put my DDs in there with room to spare. However, the rest of the jacket goes straight down from there. My daughter is average size/weight for her height, so she's swimming in this. I love the blue color and fuzzy inside. They wash and dry well and we've never had problems with the zippers. They're very warm with just a shirt underneath, even though you can layer a huge bubble vest under this one. This will probably be the last one I buy because it's so absurdly large. I wish they would go back to a regular cut, or at lease put some elastic in the waist. I wish they would make these exact same jackets with the exact same material and nice hoods in women's cuts that aren't cropped and fit a woman's figure. Anyway, keep in mind the fit is gigantic. The material is wonderful and washer/dryer friendly. Not sure if a size down will be too short in the sleeves and length.
