Light and comfy.
The seat installs easily. Beware that if your top tube is heavily tapered, the rods won’t lift the seat high enough to clear the rear tire. We couldn’t install it on my wife’s COOP DRT 1.1 but it works great on my Cannondale Trail 2. Lookup pictures online and you’ll see what I mean about how low the bracket had to mount on her bike. Our daughter loves it. We got it because we have other Burley equipment and were upgrading from a front-mounted to a rear-mounted setup as our daughter got older and hence, taller. With a helmet on she can turn her head comfortably. We opted for the recliner thinking she may sleep in it, but she hasn’t yet. Hopefully someday she does. We rode green singletrack (El Dorado at Post Canyon, Hood River, Oregon) with it and it handled it. Bottom line, you’re going to like it.
Love them!!
These seats are amazing! We have two due to our twins. We were concerned if we would have an issue with putting them on due to my brake line along the frame but wound up having no issue. The seats are easy to put on and take off. The incline was great when my daughter fell asleep on a ride. The back pockets are fantastic for keeping small things with us. There is plenty of space between us and the kids, when in the seats. I have no issue putting them in or taking them out while holding the bike up- very easy. My kids enjoy having the arms to rest their arms on. The best part is The safety aspect of the harness and locking system for their feet. We wound up having a spill due to a muddy bridge on a greenway and the kids were perfectly fine, no injuries , and barely moved. I highly recommend these seats.
Its a good seat, however
Its a good seat, however its bounces and sways quite a bit (30lb Granddaughter) which is unnerving. I asked if it was compatible with a rack and they said no. For the price point I feel like it should not have this much movement.
Fun with Kiddos
Great seat to saddle up the kiddo and go !
Checked all the boxes but still didn't fit
Love Burley products and I am the embodiment of a walking infomercial for the bike trailers. I bought this as a way for my wife to tug around the kiddo, but it does not work on her bike, the Trek FX3. I checked and confirmed the compatibility specs before buying, but it will not clear the rear tire. My guess is it also will not be compatible with smaller framed women's bikes ( FX 3 is a size small) I guess I just need to just buy a new bike to use this thing.
Great Seat
The primary selling point for me was the 5-point harness. At least at the time that I was researching child bike seats, Burley's was the only seat offering this feature. The storage compartment in the back of the seat is handy too, and is large enough for a u-lock, extra diapers, or the snack that you acquire at the cafe down the street. The recline feature is nice for younger kids who may fall asleep on the ride. I have it mounted to a Trek 520.
Very impressive product
Bought the Dash X FM after thorough research. Seemed to offer the best bang for your buck out there - security, ease of use, recline ability, and I really liked the idea of the storage area. The product has not disappointed. I am very pleased. If I was being nit-picky, I would say it could use a bit more suspension to reduce jostling. 5 stars though.
Does Not Fit Trek Marlin 5 Medium Frame MTB
Before I purchased I read the compatibility in the online manual. My bike (super common MTB) is a medium frame Trek hardtail 29er. Does not even come close to clearing the back tire. I waited 3 months and am really disappointed. You would think Burley could list common compatible or non compatible bikes or brands. Its a no go on a 2020 Trek.
Not all that great
Really wanted to like it but it's just not that good. It doesn't mount well to all the bikes it claims it should. It's very bouncy even on fairly flat pavement. This product has a very narrow margin for what and who it will work for. I own 4 bicycles and it only works well on one of them.
Didn’t work with trek even though fit all specifications
My bike meet all the qualifications for this seat to fit but once installed it was only 1/4 inch above the bike tire. Looked like a great seat but didn’t work for us! (I have a trek marlin 7 women’s bike)
