I recently picked this up on sale, and honestly it was worth it. While it isn’t extremely cold where I’m located, I prefer to stay warm and dry when it does ultimately get cold and wet. This jacket has been the biggest pickup for me so far that has worked in nearly every aspect that I’ve intended it to work in. Wind, rain, cold weather, all easily avoidable with this jacket. I got stuck out in the pouring rain for at least a solid 20 minutes and when I managed to get back home, the only thing slightly wet were my shoulders. That’s impressive for a jacket that is merely water resistant. For what it is, it works well, and I would even say it’s on par for performance as my Nuptse. Great pickup for sure!
I needed a new down jacket for winter as I work outside most days (the jacket I replaced was 15 years old). The ladies jacket selection didn’t have my size which is large so the sales person suggested I look at a men’s medium. I found the perfect jacket in the Men’s North Face Hydrenalite Down Hoodie. It’s beautiful, soft and cozy. The fit is good, maybe the sleeves are a touch long but definitely not a problem. It’s a mid weight down jacket which works best for my needs. Very satisfied. I’m 5’5, 150 lbs and like things fashionable. I live in So Carolina but work in other states.
I was looking for a heavier down than the REI packable i had. This North Face fits the bill. Only negative thing is it runs small. In other brands, my size is a medium. The medium on this is a bit snug on me. I had to go to the large but the large is just slightly loose. If you are normally a large, you may have to go to an XL.
The material feels slightly thicker and more durable than previous down jackets I've owned. The level of loft in the down feels fantastic throughout (including the hood) and the collar is nice and tall. I'd feel confident this jacket will keep you warm in most conditions, especially with a shell over the top. The lined pockets are a nice addition too. The sleeve length and elastic around the wrists are perfect, but the shoulders are very narrow (even for a small-size jacket) and the armpits are cut too tight, pinching fabric up into the armpit. I am pretty thin and was surprised by the fit. The armpits are uncomfortable, especially with a thicker sweater on. This is disappointing because the jacket is otherwise nearly perfect.
An exceptional jacket. I chose one to wear overseas for a month in winter travel and it proved to be wind resistant when I needed it to be, warm, and the hood was warm as well. The pockets are deep enough to be very useful. On the few days it warmed up enough or I was riding on a warm subway train it was nice to have something that stuffed into a day bag easily.
My wife and I went into the Knoxville TN store to look at the Women's North Face jackets that were on sale, however we were too late for her to find one in her size. But we weren't out of luck, she found this jacked in medium that fit her. She loves it, she loves how warm it is with being so light. Now she's hooked on Puffer Jackets.
I like it. It is well made and very comfortable to wear. Not an expedition coat; does not have a weather gap over the zipper and does not have hood draw strings. Was a bit disappointed that it did not come with a stuff sack. Overall a nice coat for the price.
My son loves this jacket and said he's gotten so may compliments on it at college. Very warm, light weight and runs true to size. I originally bought down one size due to comments I'd read but my son is average size, 6 ft tall and an XL fits perfectly.
Nice jacket. Good quality. Purchased for my grandson’s birthday. He picked it out. My only disappointment was the hood is not removable.
Great fit, warm, comfortable, looks good and the hood sits well enough that it doesn’t shift terribly while shoveling snow.
