Great all around cargo / utility bike
I searched far and wide for a good quality, reliable e-bike so I could quickly get back and forth between different mile markers during my wife’s marathons, at our beach house, and between our home and studio. I picked this bike because the size is great - it may be 60lbs, but my 5’5” wife can ride it, my 5’7” 12 year old can ride it, and even I fit at 6’6” with only minor quick release adjustments. It doesn’t have a throttle, but I don’t need one. The cockpit is an upright position, as one would expect just looking at it if you know anything about bike geometry, and the step through is just super comfy and convenient. You really can’t find a more reliable drive train than Bosch. Shimano makes a good system, there are some great less costly options as well, but for my money, I wanted the reputation and reliability of Bosch, but your mileage may vary with local REI’s ability to support the Bosch system. No, it doesn’t have suspension. No, it isn’t steel. Yes, it’s heavy. And expensive. But the upright geometry makes for a buttery smooth tracking, the cushy tires definitely absorb a lot, and the style is second to none if you prefer classy over sporty. It’s well equipped with front and rear lights and fenders, but the available accessories are numerous. I opted for front and rear racks and can bring home an insane amount of groceries on this thing. This bike has a bit of a specific audience in mind. If you don’t know who Benno is, what he’s done for the cycling world, or have any appreciation for a more laid back, classy but capable utility bike, this isn’t for you. Buy the Co-Op mini cargo whatever. They’re great too, and often half the price. This little sexy beast is made for riding. Pick the rack that suits you, get the dual kickstand and front wheel stabilizer, and you’ll enjoy this baby for years. I’m never getting rid of mine.
not a great ride
For the price it isn't that much bicycle. No shocks. Not a silk smooth ride either. and the handling takes a second to get used to. Very upright riding position doesn't inspire confidence. Not that comfortable Also because of the oversized tires if the wheels aren't tru perfectly speed wobbles around 15 mph. I asked if we could balance the tires and the tech assured me that all we do is tru the wheel. Also there is a lot of cables coming out the front end. The tech that built it did a bad job with wire management. I donno maybe $3700 for a bike like this is cheap and not worth spending time on? I spent my time with the wire management at least making it look nice. I can bring it back to the shop and have them tru the wheels again, but seems like the techs around here are more lazy than inspired to do the job right. Bike does look great in the pictures, but again the cables are way to long and need to be resized. Also if this bike had a small suspension I think it would help hide the tires needing to be so precise. Also the oversized tires make the bike handle weird. Regular width tires and a suspension would fix everything wrong with this bike. As of now just running lower psi in the tires, still not a great ride.
This bike is so fun to ride. Every trip on the Remidemi is a complete joy. I looked at many options, and I’m so glad I chose this one. It is pretty heavy at 65the lbs, so take that in consideration. I have mine fitted with the front utility rack and it can haul so much. It handles pavement bumps really well. The 4 different levels of pedal assist give you the option of how much you want or need to work on hills. Love this bike…
