An Awesome Cargo Bike
My husband and I wanted cargo bikes to ride the bike paths in Washington State. This bike ticked off most of our boxes: larger/wider tires; more torque; a chain drive, not a belt; and the ability to carry a lot of gear. After putting 100 miles on my bike I find myself wondering how they actually got up to 28 mph? The fastest I have been able to go is around 20, which is fine, because it isn’t about speed for me. The additional torque means that the bike propels itself forward as you start with minimal effort of pushing on the pedals. For someone like me who is riding with a knee/leg injury, it means I can ride longer and farther without my leg bothering me. I put on two large cargo bags so I can carry a folding chair, a picnic, fishing gear and my knitting with extra room for a spare jacket or hat. The gearing is wonderful-I can shift going uphill fully loaded and the bike doesn’t hesitate to shift from gear to gear as necessary. The battery life is about what we thought it would be. It’s winter and we were able to ride 35 miles on the battery. We’ve ordered the parts to add an additional battery as we want to be able to ride further than that. The bike is supposed to fit a range of heights of people, but the owner’s manual recommends that you let the dealer adjust the gooseneck. We had Tannus Armour tire liners installed to avoid/prevent flats-so far, so good. Overall, I love this bike. It brings a smile to my face while I ride it. Yes, it’s pricey, but from my perspective, well worth the money. Thanks to Max at the Spokane REI for answering all of our questions.
