The material and construction are high quality. The size runs a bit smaller than it should. The L/XL is no bigger than a Large at best. The mesh side vents are helpful on hot days. One reviewer said the bill was "cartoonish." Yes, the bill is longer than the bill on the average baseball cap but it's supposed to be long in order to shade your face. This is a sun hat, designed for functionality (to protect your face, ears and neck from the sun). This type of hat always looks a bit goofy because of the flaps. No one buys this type of hat to look stylish or fashionable. This hat does an excellent job of protecting me from the sun.

This is my third time purchasing this hat because we love them so much we want to have one in each vehicle in case we forget to bring them along. They are easy to adjust for a perfect, tight fit. For hiking in the sun I have the sides wrapped around my cheeks and secured with the velcro in front. For playing pickleball, I wear it with the sides pulled back for a wider field of vision. Both my husband and I use the size S/M and it is perfect.

Perfect sun protection, and super comfortable and light. Most hats bother me in some way. This one, I forget I am wearing it. I like mine so much that I just got the same one for my spouse. It is ideal for hiking, and playing pickleball. I bought the S/M for both of us. I don't think anybody would need a Large.

This hat was too small and I have to return it even though I tried on other hats at REI that were L/XL and they all fit fine.

I purchased this for a 12-day trek on the GR20 in France. It provided excellent coverage on the sides and neck leaving minimal exposure only at certain angles when not walking directly into the sun. I love that the material is thin enough that on hot days I would dunk it under water to provide a cooling effect, and the mesh at the top allows for adequate cooling. While it is not the most fashionable piece of equipment, it is fully functional with a small piece of velcro that allows for keeping the two side flaps together.

I have a small head and rarely find hats that fit. This thing is a joke. It’s child sized. The bill is cartoonish. 2 stars bc children could definitely wear this and would enjoy the cartoonish bill. So now I have to find another alternative before a 300 mile race. Thanks for nothing. My GOD do you even vet products before piling them in stores like Walmart?

My favorite hat. Keeps sun off my neck, and then closes around my chin when it gets cold or windy.

I use this hat for playing tennis. It is very stable (doesn't slip or move on my head) and even shields the sun coming in from the side. I have had skin cancer spots removed so I also use it whenever I am out in the sun.

Hat is well made and looks good. However, the L/XL is way too small for my head. I returned the hat.
