Nice features

Works well for my needs (60 year old, biking and hiking mostly). Informative features like sleep tracking and heart rate. I like that I can edit the activities and apps that I use the most. The battery doesn’t last as long as I was expecting, but it’s still good. I bought some replacement bands because I don’t like the silicone; switching them out is easy. The mileage tracking seems pretty accurate when I compare it to other tracking apps or known distances. I like that I was able to connect my Spotify account so I could listen to music. The Garmin Connect app is really nice. I’m pleased with my purchase

Technology 10/10 but MAJOR design flaw.

I’ve had this watch for three weeks now. While it’s not my first smart-watch, it is my first Garmin. I am extremely impressed with the technology and its features, but the watch band has a major design flaw, which makes me not want to wear it. The rubber clasp that is meant to hold the excess band is too big. it does not keep the band tight or in place and causes it to come loose and flop around. This is not what you want while you’re working out, or even just wearing throughout the day. It’s quite annoying to deal with and I will end up returning the watch because of it.

Open water swimming setting!

For pool swimming I preferred the VA 3 simply because the display was more legible for distance and time swam as well as time given at the wall i.e. rest. On the VA 5 when the stop button is pushed the parameters are not legible for me through my goggles and unless it can be changed the VA 5 does not give time at the wall i.e. rest so still need to use a pace clock. Example: the 5 is not helpful for intervals on rest X since it does not give time rested but a message “press top button to save”

Very nice smart watch for a very reasonable price!

I previously had a Vivoactive 4. Overall, I liked it, but I always wished it had a more modern looking AMOLED screen. The new Vivoactive 5 has the nice, colorful screen I was hoping for, plus several new features that I really like. The battery lasts much longer in the 5. The process for entering reps and weight for exercises is much easier to use. It also seems to be more accurate at detecting which exercises I have done (Triceps Press, Bench Press, etc.). When I receive text messages, I can not only read the message on the 5, but I can also see attached photos. The new reports I get on the 5 are also nice.

If you’re hesitant, know it’s worth every penny!

I just started my running journey in March while using the VivoFit4 and quickly realized I needed something with GPS and the ability to track my heart rate as my Fit4 wasn’t truly meant for runs, just tracking basic activity (it had served its purpose well). Knowing I wanted to stick with Garmin as i’ve tried several competitors with zero luck, I bit the bullet and purchased the VivoSmart5. It has successfully helped me through my first 10k with its training features! I love that it notifies me of my heart rate, my stress, even tells me when i’ve reached each mile and my pace for it. While i’m no mega-athlete, this watch makes me feel like one! I’ll be a Garmin Girl for life!!

Great, but can easily lead a person to injury

This watch is great, health metrics are good, gps is okay (it doesn't really work indoors). The coach plan doesn't seem to be very good, it's more robotic. The heart rate chart on the phone is okay, but doesn't show the zones as well as the watch does. It's an easy fix since they already do it on the watch, but they probably won't. The injury part comes from the coaches plan not telling a person they need to stretch, how to stretch, or that it's even a thing. They have the capacity to show exercises and how to do them with videos but not stretching for some reason. There isn't even an activity for stretching. So you have to make custom ones for each stretch, which if you dont stretch right you could easily hurt yourself. They should definitely change that. Otherwise it might be an issue if someone hurts themselves. Watch is great though, it's just let down by the software around it, and a person can hurt themselves just blindly following the coach plans suggested workouts.

Best fitness watch ever.

I started with another watch to track my weight loss journey and began to run/ walk 5K's and I needed accuracy of my miles. The watch I had never gave me the correct miles. I joined a running group and asked what watch would be best for my 5K training and everyone said Garmin. I began my research and found the Vivoactive 5. I must say I love everything about this watch from the body battery to the naps. I have never had a fitness watch that was like a buddy. Vivoactive 5 is a must have and I will be using Garmin for the rest of my life.

Mixed Reviews

My Vivoactive 5 is a recertified product due to previous Vivoactive 4 malfunctions. I did receive a recertified, not new item. Smaller than the Vivo 4, the Vivo 5 has a low budget look and feel to it. My main concern is for how long will this watch last until it shuts off. All the bells and whistles for an active person but a few glitches during the day. Battery is something you have to be aware of as well, I'm always checking to see when charge needed. Not too confident in this device.

On top of my game with the Garmin VivoActive 5

The Garmin VivoActive 5 is a great tool to know where my body is at physically. I can see my heart rate, body battery (very cool), and even my stress level at a glance. This provides feedback so I can modify my activities, or better yet, get more active, as needed. I enjoy the sleep score and knowing how I slept. Activities are easy to track and there are many default activities to choose from. This is a nice looking, easy to wear, smartwatch. I really like it.
