My favorite pair of shoes!
I walk a lot - around down and hiking - and these shoes have been absolutely amazing! Super comfy, super grippy - both on and off the trails. Already looking for pair #2!
My Men's Jaspers
So far I am pleased with this shoe. I bought it because it reminds me of my Rock Hoppers back when I did climbing. I'm glad the listing noted that they ran a half size small: ordering a half size larger than I normally get made them fit perfectly. My only criticism is that the tongue needs to be LONGER: it has a tendency to want to disappear inside the shoe when you put them on & there isn't much to hang on to. Otherwise the shoes are light, fit well & have the arch support that made me a KEEN fan in the first place. I would recommend this shoe to anyone looking for a lightweight versatile shoe - great for light hiking or just running around in.
Decent Knockoff
About 15 years ago, GoLite,a now defunct outdoor clothing company, made the Lime Lite. I had 3-4 colors of this shoe. Several of those colors are now available in the Jasper Suede line. The Lime Lites had a padded tongue, not so the Jasper. I still have the Lime Lite in red. The Jasper is a decent shoe. Fit well right out of the box though the sole is not quite as supportive as I would have liked, nor are they as rugged. The Jasper has a funky lace up placement. I think it detracts from the look. I wound up re-lacing them abandoning the bottom most eyelets. The Jasper is true to size and the color offerings are unique which is what attracted me to the GoLites all those years ago. Overall I’d say the Jasper is acceptable.
Excellent shoe for bike ridding
I purchased the Jasper Canvas because I was planning to ride my mountain bike on a rail to trail - 70+ miles. Contrary to some reviews I found the shoe very comfortable, however, I had to adjust the lacing to get the best fit. The feel when I put them on the first time was a solid sole (not spongy) with good arch support. The advantage of the lacing is I could adjust the fit to my foot. I rode the 72 miles in 7.5 hours over two days. The show was solid enough to peddle while not constricting my feet. Also felt good when I walking around the town we stayed in. I would recommend it for anyone who wanted a shoe that would work for biking and for walking.
So-So Keens
I have had 5-6 pairs of Austins across the past 10 years, but felt that the quality of leather had been on the decline. So I tried a pair of Jaspers. They fit fine, a bit small. (I normally wear an 11.5 in Keens, but these are 12.) I haven't had trouble with the tongue (as others have mentioned), but don't like two attributes of the Jaspers. First, they are rather thick and unnecessarily warm. Second, the soles are wearing very quickly after only limited use. I can't see them lasting long. I purchased another pair of shoes from another company recently, am very happy with them, and suspect that my Keen-wearing days are past.
Will Be Getting More!!!
As a woman with bigger feet (size 12/13 in women's) it is hard to find cute shoes in my size. As someone who is outdoorsy the Jasper comes in the same color ranges in both the men's and women's version, so I lucked out. I plan on getting the black with purple laces as well. The Jasper pairs perfect with jeans, and should look great with shorts next summer. They are sized a half size smaller so I ordered the men's 12 which worked for me. The toe box is also a little more narrow, so keep that in mind. Overall, I really like the shoe, and as I've said I do plan on buying more in other colors.
Construction has changed; not for the better.
This is my third pair of Keens. The first two fit perfectly and were comfortable immediately. These shoes seem to have a completely different construction. The sole is very hard and stiff. They make my arches hurt. They actually make a flapping noise when I walk; step, thump, step, thump. I'm not returning them because: (1) they look great and there is not a style I would rather have and (2) I'd just get the same problems with replacement shoes. I will try after-market insoles to try and fix the poor construction, and just wear them less. Something has changed in the manufacturing and it is not good. The shoes look great but are a disappointment, especially after the first two pairs being so good.
Nice shoe, but didn't last very well
I bought these shoes for working out in at the gym. I wanted something relatively flat, and robust. They were largely great for this purpose. However, it didn't take very long before my toes were busting out the sides of one of the shoes. I don't think the suede is very strong at this point. I would have preferred a full-grain leather shoe, in this design. That would be pretty much ideal for what I want (especially if they came in wide fittings). But, during the time they lasted, they were very comfortable during all sorts of physical activity, from weight lifting to cardio, yoga, etc.

Just opened box
Good looking shoe but when I first inspected I realized how wide the footprint was. I pulled out the insole it had a lot of cushion but the arch support flattened with the slightest pressure. I have high arches and with each step my ankle collapsed inwards. If you are used to walking in flat shoes and your arches have fallen this might be a good shoe. The interior feel reminds me of vans or chuck with more cushion. I have arch support insoles to replace the originals but am unsure if it will be enough to accommodate the wideners of the shoe. It seems made for a much wider foot.
I bought three additional backup pairs
I bought these at the beginning of 2019 when it looked like they were being discontinued and they were being offered at a closeout price. I loved them so much I bought three additional backup pairs before Keen might have stopped making them. I'm very excited to see that they're back (if they were ever going anywhere to begin with)! They fit perfectly (I bought one size up), and they quickly mould to my foot without being heavy, clunky or stiff. I wear mine every single day in all conditions. I've finally found my all-around shoe. The soles/tread are a little on the thin side, but that helps with the feel of the shoe. After a year of constant wear the tread is gone in some places but there are no wear through spots yet.
