Great performance, little reliability
Really wanted to keep this product. Gave it 5 months and finally had to return. The good: light weight, snappy/smooth action, easy to service and easy to mount saddle, responsive customer service from OneUp. The bad: IGUS bushing failed after 3-4 rides so have to keep replacing or the action becomes rough. Also plastic fragments will contaminate the grease and cause premature wear on the shaft. Been in contact with OneUp throughout the 5 months and they assured me they are working on an improved bushing but still no resolution. IMO, the design of the brass pins ramming into the edge of a thin plastic bushing is not very robust. I’m a design engineer and 8 sharp points of contact against a thin plastic edge is not sustainable hundreds/thousands of cycles. Finally I decided to go with a Fox Transfer, much more robust design. Brass bushings as opposed to brass pins. Heavier and top out bang is louder but knowing it’s sturdy makes me feel better. I expect some maintenance on a dropper post but do not expect to replace parts on the regular. Reliability is the most important aspect factor of a dropper post.
Love this seat post!
A great upgrade from my BikeYoke dropper post that failed catastrophically (seat started spinning freely even though the dropper mechanism still worked). The V3 is solid with more exact and reliable action than the BikeYoke, it’s got slightly more resistance but that just took a few minutes to get used to. It really gets the seat out of the way when height is adjusted properly, I get more height out of bunny hops and can descend technical terrain more confidently. Plus I saved significant weight upgrading to this seat post. What’s not to love?
Couldn't Be Happier
Upgraded from the OEM (Intense) dropper to this V3 from OneUp. Couldn't be happier, it's super slick motion is in contrast to the OEM's clunkiness in dropping "sticktion". The old actuator lever felt pretty random in when it would release the post, the V2 lever is smooth and gradual, or instant if you push the lever hard.
