Handy, durable multipurpose pouch
Sure a resealable plastic bag will suffice often but they can tear, get holes and sooner than later end up in the landfill, or worse blow out of your hands and litter the landscape. These silicone bags are really good. They’re durable, washable and reusable countless times. At first I wasn’t too sure about the plastic slider that’s used to seal the bag but after a few uses I’m a fan. With the slider you can attach an o-ring and then clip it to your pack for quick convenient access. The pouch is self standing for ease of access, filling and drying when you wash it. When I dropped it in the snow skiing the contents stayed dry. Next time I head out to photograph in the snow I’ll put my filters, batteries etc in the pouch and know they’re secure and dry.
Innovative concept, but with some faults
The GoPouch is an innovative product for those looking for a reusable option to the landfill-bound traditional sandwich bag. It is made with quality materials, the silicone is thick and appears high quality and difficult to puncture, and it it both microwave and top-rack dishwasher safe (note the warning to not microwave this pouch closed). Two aspects of this pouch really stood out. First, it can stand on its own using its flat base. Second, the plastic closure lip can snap open. This combination makes the pouch quite nice for snacking. When eating popcorn, it felt more like a bowl than a bag. That said, the GoPouch has its disadvantages. For one, I sometimes stretch out sandwich bags to fit the contents, but the GoPouch’s thick silicone makes it unstretchable. Also, the closure uses a removable plastic piece. If you lose or break that piece, you’re out of luck. There is also no lock on this sliding mechanism, so I would hesitate to trust it to not slide open in a bag. And finally, when under slight pressure, the bag will leak liquid from the corners. So long as you are cautious with this bag holding liquids, I think it will prove a worthwhile replacement to less environmentally friendly bags.
Kept my crunchy snacks intact!
I've always been curious about silicone pouches but the price point usually scared me away. This GoPouch had some great features. It was really easy to open with a plastic piece that slides on and off to seal and unseal the bag. The opening is framed by rigid plastic that is hinged on the ends and has flex points on either side that allow the opening to stay open and wide without sagging. The bottom is flat so the pouch can stand on its own. Upon receiving, I immediately filled it with liquid. It seemed to do ok on its own, but pressure on the pouch caused leaking. The pouch also has fill lines up to 1.5 cups and a line to not exceed so that you can close and seal the pouch. The wider bottom and narrow top means that the pouch doesn't hold as much as you think it might while it's fully open. I filled mine with a mix of crunchy snacks and threw it in my bike bag for my morning commute. The thick silicone protected the snacks much better than a ziplock ever could. As someone who washes and reuses plastic bags, I can see some benefits to a silicon pouch but would want to see the full life-cycle of environmental impacts of a silicon pouch vs. a zip lock back from production through use and disposal before I made the decision to invest fully in a broader range of these products. I would also like to see replacement parts available as I can imagine that some folks might lose that top closure piece
Stay open design - love it!
I literally gasped when I opened the top and realized it stays open. Stays standing too. Love the locking bar and how smooth it is inside - making it super easy to clean. On a recent backpacking trip I had my homemade oatmeal mix and added boiling water. This is a more sustainable option and again, it stands up all by itself! Can use for snacks in the car or toiletries when traveling. Now I just need the bigger size and well and I’m all set :)
Perfect reusable bag!
I absolutely love this reusable pouch! I have tried many different ones from different brands and this one is my favorite. My favorite feature is that it will stay open on its own while you fill it or after you wash it so the inside can actually dry. The slide lock mechanism is super easy to use and works! My snacks that I put in here also don't go stale as fast as when I use other brands of silicone bags.
Great for snacks and easy to use.
It’s a nice little product, but it does have some limitations. For dry and semi dry foods it worked great. However, for liquids it leaked through the seal. Place it carefully in your pack. It was easy to clean and seems to be very durable.
Well made, but heavy
I tested the waterproofness at home by putting dry paper towels in sealed pouch, then submersing for about a minute. Paper stayed dry. Then I filled the pouch with water, which squirted out the top ends when squeezed. No problem, since this wasn't designed to carry liquids. For my day hike I filled it a little above the high mark line with trail mix, and it sealed just fine. I like that it spreads open and stands for accessing contents. It will also hold a full size phone along with other small items. I would not take this backpacking because it's much heavier than ziplock bags, which I re-use multiple times. Not fond of silicone, which tends to collect small particles to its surface.
Solid, reusable bag for many things!
This is a solid, reusable sandwich size bag. I used it for pens on an international trip, dog treats for an overnight trip, and strawberries for a day out. The clasp that slides onto close the bag is kinda bulky but it definitely held up and didn't accidentally open like a plastic sandwich bag can -- even when packed full. That trade-off is worth it. It was easy to clean after the strawberries and dog treats. And it will stay in my rotational use.
Great design
This silicone snack bag is the best I’ve ever used. The mouth stays open when you’re filling it, which is key. And then the plastic bar locks it closed. So no worrying about it opening at the worst time. I love this bag.
Get more of these!
These are great replacements for Ziploc bags and I like them better than their competitor, Stasher Bags. They don’t leak or open without you doing it. I hope they come in bigger sizes, because I would like to replace all of my Stasher bags with these.
