I have a 33 inch waist and got the size medium thinking that it would be perfect because I'm right in the middle of its range (29.5-37.4 in). Weong. The front, right gear loop is way too far back even when I'm only wearing a T-shirt. Add in a other clothing layer under the harness, and the loop is almost out of sight. Yes, I'm wearing it correctly. I took it on a weeklong guided trip and had the guide sanity check me. Other than that, it's a good harness. It's comfortable, easy to use, has wear indicators, and droppable leg loops. Basically all features that are to be expected at this price, so they can't offset the two stars that I knocked off for the stupid gear loop. So yeah. It's fine for gym or sport climbing, but examine other options for trad and alpine.
Size range for small is 27-30 in and I have a 27 in waist. Didn't fit me. The waist belt was too small. The rise seemed fine for taller guys.
