Adequate rack with some limitations
The NRS Deluxe Kayak Car Rack was adequate for my trip from central Illinois to northern Wisconsin. But only adequate. My car doesn't have roof racks or rails and I was hoping I could get away with a simple solution. This car rack kept my kayak in place and didn't damage the roof of my car. The description doesn't explain that without a roof rack, to secure the foam pads, the webbing straps have to pass through the car doors and the interior of the car. The first leg of the journey I had terrible road/wind noise from the straps vibrating. At a rest stop, I twisted the straps and then the humming stopped. I had to drive through a heavy rainstorm and then water dripped into the car from the wet straps. So, the straps worked to carry the kayak but they aren't great. Guess I will have to invest in a good roof rack system.
Good for sedan
Works excellently on my Nissan Sentra, only a sorry trip so far, but very easy to put together with clear instructions
