The Number One Product for the Number Two Business
I received this product for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I am what you might call a "seasoned user" of portable bidets, so I was curious right away about the Humangear BidetToob. My experience over the past several weeks has offered ample insight into its capabilities. This product has seamlessly integrated into my daily routine because it has presented such an intriguing blend of portability and efficiency. Design and Performance: It's small, but it packs impressive water pressure! This feature ensures a thorough and efficient cleaning experience without the need for specialized tools to gauge pressure. In other words, it really does what it's supposed to do. Its design combines high water pressure with sufficient volume per use, all while maintaining a compact form factor that easily collapses for discreet transport in a cargo pocket or backpack. Quality: It seems durable overall, but I've only had it and tested it for a few weeks. I have three concerns that may be completely unfounded 1) The first is that the potential long-term durability of its snap-on nozzle present areas for improvement. I wonder how well that plastic snap connector will hold up over time. Plastic does have a tendency to break, and it usually breaks when camping. 2) The second consern is that it does not "stand upright" and will only lay flat. This may make use difficult at times, because not every (ahem) "location" comes with a nice shelf to set things on. This could make it somewhat awkward to hold on to before actual use. 3) My third concern is that the durability of hte built-in carrying clip raises some concerns for use. I don't believe I will use it, but it does look weak. Environmental Impact and Cost Savings: The Humangear BidetToob stands out as a cost-effective and eco-friendly resource for personal hygiene practices. Reflecting on "The Great Toilet Paper Rush of 2020," a time when toilet paper became a scarce commodity, the BidetToob offers a compelling solution that goes beyond mere convenience. By significantly reducing reliance on toilet paper, it not only alleviates the environmental burden associated with its production and disposal but also offers a safeguard against future supply shortages. The long-term cost savings realized by minimizing toilet paper use can be substantial, providing an economic advantage to users who embrace this sustainable alternative. Overall: I plan to purchase a few more-for the car, for work. I am pleased to have it for daily use and consider it well suited for outdoor adventures too.
Don't question it- this Bidet Toob works!
If you've never used a Bidet on a regular toilet, then it might seem questionable to use only 6 oz of water to clean yourself after taking a poo. Don't question it- this thing works. I've taken my Bidet Toob with me on a couple of fishing afternoons, and it was nice to feel fresh and not need or waste toilet paper. The Toob tip fits inside of the container, so it's easily portable. Both parts attach securely when you're ready to use, and because of the tip angle, it can be maneuvered easily without straining. If the container is full, it doesn't require that much grip pressure to create a good flow pattern, but I recommend testing it visually at the sink to ensure you don't run out of water trying to clean yourself in a real life moment. That being said, bring some sanitizer or soap with you to ensure that you can clean your "dirty" hand if further cleaning is necessary.
Easy to pack and great addition!
I love this! It's so nice to have such a great way to help with personal hygiene while out on the trail. It's small, light, and easily attaches to my pack, and packs into itself to keep it clean. A great addition to my backcountry toilet kit.
A convenient clean!
As a female user, I am very impressed by the performance of the BidetToob! It’s sleek and straightforward. The product fits in the palm of your hand and is both compact and lightweight which makes it great for the backpacker and outdoor-bathroom user enthusiast! For convenience, the top spout fits inside of the water retainer and can be popped out and attached when ready to use or refill! There is also a sliding latch-like attachment along the cap that allows you to hang the bidet from a carabiner or similar attachment for quick access or to dry it out! I have enjoyed using this product throughout my day hikes, practicing with it at home, and I’m very excited to take it with me on my upcoming backpacking trips this season! I would absolutely purchase this for a great backcountry bathroom option.
How to treat this well.
After 5 weeks on the road with this item, I found the extra weight not a problem. In addition, it packs well and compresses for even less space. The capacity is adequate. Three cautions: 1. The spout snaps on securely, but still be careful when dodging the toilet seat. 2. Rotate the spout so the hinged cap is not in the way. 3. Because the container aspirates in use, afterwards always rinse container and tube inside and out with clean water, drain, and let dry if possible. 4. I did not follow #3 and had surface cultures in the container that required a day's soak in full bleach. So far, the item keeps functioning, in spite of that harsh treatment.
Works a charm with caveats
My home bidet emits a strong stream of water. This device does not, no matter how hard one squeezes, and it requires no small amount of hand strength. Female users will find the 6floz fill adequate to cleanse after urination. A thorough cleansing of the perineum usually requires two or three fillings, so bring alomg plenty of water to refill the bulb and to wash your hands. Other reviewers have remarked on the benefits and shortcomings of the construction and materials. Compare carefully against the competing bidet products such as dedicated units and water bottole nozzles. Humangear performs the job with some limitations.
Welcome Addition to my Toiletries Bag!
The BidetToob stands out from other backcountry bidets because of the clever bidet extension spout that keeps the water Toob and your hand away from the action, and the spout can be stored conventiently inside the water Toob. I know of backpackers using a regular GoToob as a bidet, so I swapped on a standard top to see how it would compare (see photo). I thought it might provide stronger water pressure, but it didn't—the bidet extension spout was better. The BidetToob is not meant to replace toilet paper; the water pressure and amount of water in the tube would not be sufficient for what humangear calls the "heavy lifting." It does reduce the total amount of paper (or leaves!) required, though. Note that you will need to dry off after using it. I love it for travel and it has earned a permanent spot in my toiletries bag. It's very easy to use on a toilet or while squatting in the wild and I have had no issues with aiming the stream of water. The 6 ounces of water it holds is just enough. At 3.15 ounces (I confirmed the weight), it's definitely a luxury item for ultralight backpacking but a reasonable weight for day hiking, camping, or regular backpacking. I highly recommend the BidetToob, especially if you are like me and miss your bidet when you aren't at home!
Great for traveling, not backpacking/camping
Pleasantly surprised when this item arrived! I’ve always been a fan of human gear products, so when they came out with a bidet, I was excited! I’ve used a few other brands, some lighter and some heavier. While I think this product is good, some of the characteristics make it amazing for traveling and terrible for backpacking, and vice versa! This product: (1) has a silicone type body which does terrible backpacking because all the dust sticks to it! Would work well for traveling instead. (2) The hideaway spray tip is great and compact for traveling and backpacking. (3) The bottle is multi purpose and can be used as a container to store items like lotions, shampoo, conditioner if one wants to use it as storage instead! (4) the design makes it easy to apply pressure when using bidet, but make sure you practice at home first. Overall, human gear has made another solid piece of gear for traveling!
Better than TP
I've been using a peri-bottle I once got at the hospital, but this thing is a seriously great upgrade. I bought it to go on a trip that requires wag bags and I didn't want to backpack out a bunch of used TP. The bulb + spout directs a cleansing stream of water right where you want it. After 6 days using this + a Kula Cloth to pat dry I was fresh as a daisy, as they say. Everyone who was on the trip wants one now.
Good and portable way to keep clean.
Great way to power wash the * while at home or away. I always carry one. This is the 6 oz GoToob with the bidet cap and spout. There is the possibility of leakage if it is overfilled. Recommend, as with all portable bidets, to tip the spout downwards while over the toilet. The spray is sufficient enough to rinse most matter away. Humangear has more use tips on their website.
