When I bought these there weren't any reviews yet. So, I decided to buy both the hikepro and the runpro (which I had already been using for hiking) and try them out in my house (without cutting them to fit my shoes) using rubber bands to hold them to my feet. Just looking at them I couldn't tell any difference between the two products except that they have added 11 (on the small size) small grippy spots around the heel on the upper surface of the hikepro. However, when I tried them both and walked around the house a bit, I felt a somewhat snugger fit around my heel with the hikepro than I did with the runpro. I decided that I liked that feel so am keeping these. I hope this helps with your decision!
After just two hikes (about 21 miles) these are starting to come apart. The heel cushions are sliding out of place and tearing and the grips around the heel are peeling off. Also the top material is already showing signs of wearing down. Durability aside, these felt okay for the two days I got to use them, though I would definitely rate them as less supportive and less sturdy than the Superfeet Copper I've used in the past. The plastic piece under the arch is thin and very flexible. It's easy to squeeze it flat with just your fingers. I also don't feel like the heel cup and grips on these did much to keep my feet in place. I still had to cinch my laces down hard for the descents. For the price I expected something great, considering the cheaper Superfeet last me for years and the materials hold up great.
I’ve used the RUN PRO version of these insoles for many years and been pleased with the moderate level of added support to my walking shoes. I wear them all in day BUT I inadvertently purchased HIKE PRO and thought it would perform similarly. I was wrong! It’s stiffer under the toe pads and around the heel cup. I had shin pain after only 20 minutes. I’ve also used BIKE PRO in my bike shoes with great results. I’m a fan of CUR REX so this review is simple to share my experience of how important it is to choose the proper insole to get a happy result for your feet!
These insoles are great for my medium arches. My feet used to start to hurt after 7 miles on a day hike with the original hiking boot insoles, and I can go 12 miles a day now with a 40 pound pack and my feet don't hurt at all. They fit perfectly in my 8.5 size boots without trimming, and they don't slide around at all.
These insoles helped me so much while trekking in Patagonia. I have occasional foot pain from old stress fractures, but these insoles are super supportive and shock absorbing on rocky and steep terrain, making my whole trek pain free! I might just wear these all the time now.
Yikes, super uncomfortable. I love the CURREX RunPro insoles so I thought these would be good too, but they hurt my feet
Fit perfectly into my size 14 Merrill hikers. Provide the extra arch support that I needed.
