NOT COMFORTABLE
I specifically bought this seat because it states the seat has soft padding for child comfort. The seat does not have soft padding. It has HARD, painted, scratchy, styrofoam. The harness pads are more ‘comfortable’ (I use that term loosely) than the seat. The harness pads are made with an extremely thin foam. The seat they sit on seems like a hard plastic-y foam (very weird). For the price, you’d definitely think their would be actual comfort. I would not recommend if you want comfort. Stick to a regular plastic seat.
Hi Nichole, we chose the seat material for the Thule Yepp Nexxt Maxi because it’s a lightweight, durable, and protective material that is commonly found in bicycle helmets. It’s also shock absorbing which helps smooths the impact of bumpy bike rides. We take consumer feedback seriously and value your input and will take it into consideration for future product improvements. Thank you.
Wicked Great
This bike seat is really wonderful. It was extremely easy to install. It feels really secure when installed, and comfortable for baby. It has a really wonderful adjuster system that allows for your child to grow and still be secure and comfortable. The feet straps AND the magnetic buckles are especially easy. We purchased a second base, and think this is a great strategy to not be tied to one bicycle if you and your partner have a different size bike! The one constructive feedback is it can be a little bouncy for baby down hill because of its attachment. Acceleration and upwards baby is very stable.
Great Child Seat
We bought the Yep Nexxt Maxi a couple months ago for my two year old daughter. She absolutely loves it. The construction is solid and the frame mounting provides a good amount of shock absorption. I really like it too. Unlike the front mounted seat we have before, it has no impact on my riding style and does not interfere with stopping and starting when riding in traffic. The harness is great, but you have to make sure you get it tight around the legs before snugging around the shoulders, or the shoulders can become loose as the webbing around the legs tightens. The foot holders are fantastic. They hold tight during the ride and prevent errant kicking and are east to secure and remove.
Could have been a great product
I have been using this seat for a year now, the overall design and look is nice, but there are some issues: 1) It has no adapters for small or non-standard frame sizes, but it did fit my old 26" wheels 18" size frame with no issues. I could not mount it to one of my 28" wheels comfort bike 2) Black side panels are too wide and may interfere with your feet when pedaling 3) This is where I got disappointed the most, instruction says to torque bolts to 5 Nm, this crushed my frame tube and damaged the bike (used torque wrench). 4) Seat has too hard padding 5) It is good that the belts are 5-point mount, however upper portion of the belts on the shoulders seems to slip a little bit and need to watch out for that.
Thank you for sharing your input on the Thule Yepp Nexxt Maxi. I'm sorry the bike seat did not fit your bike as expected. Mounting dimensions and other compatibility requirements are listed in the user manual available on Thule.com. Some bikes, whether for size, shape, or construction material, are not compatible with child bike seats.
Meh
Tippy, expensive, and a poor design, the Thule Yepp Nexxt2 Maxi will be returned from our household. My feet constantly hit the bottom of this thing unless I move my feet forward on the pedals and out of the correct riding position (I ride with flats). It also renders your pannier frame useless to carry any bags beneath it, so how am I supposed to take my son's stuff to daycare when I drop him off, or bring my work stuff? With a backpack getting my back all sweaty like an undergrad? No thanks, that's why I have a rack in the first place, to keep stuff off my back, plus I don't want to smack him in the face with with it. This would be fine if you are just literally riding from home and back and not planning on stopping anywhere. Save your money and get a trailer.
Defective—Known Issue with No Known Solution
The knob on the back that is used to tighten or loosen the device gets stuck and you cannot turn it—doesn’t matter if it’s locked or unlocked. Once this happens the device is 100% useless. This is a known issue, there are multiple reports on the internet but nobody has a solution. This is unacceptable for a device that costs so much money. I would not recommend that anyone waste their money on this model until Thule holds itself accountable for the design flaw, offers a solution to existing customers and releases an update. Zero stars
Great product
I’ve been buying Thule products for years and have come to expect great things from them. These seats live up to my expectations of Thule. I bought two seats, one frame mount and one rack mount. We carry a 3 year old (30 lb) and one year old (20 lb) with total confidence. Easy to adjust quickly for different size children and they are always secure and comfortable. I highly recommended this seat for carrying any child below the weight limit.
Great product, super easy install
Bought the seat for my toddler so we could share some fresh air while keeping socially distant. The installation took less than twenty minutes and taking the seat on and off as needed is a breeze. Riding with my son on the back is as good as can be expected, though standing up from the saddle to get up a hill is not something I can recommend as the seat whips as the bike rocks back and forth.
Easy installation and good product
After using the bike seat for a month, the seat is comfortable for up to 90 minute rides. My toddler is happy and excited to ride in the seat! The straps do slide off my child’s shoulder. I wish this product came with an extra strap feature to connect instead of having to buy as an accessory. Overall, I love the seat and would recommend!
Works well, but my toddler is uncomfortable
I like it, on rides it works for a while then my toddler starts getting cranky. My wife discovered his back had red marks on it from the backing. I’m wondering if anyone found some type of softer padding to put on the back part? Side note: mine was missing some parts, customer service was great in getting it to me.
