I wanted a daypack with a ventilating back for summer season day hikes. The Gregory Men's Zulu 24 LT Pack is a very comfortable and functional smaller daypack. I have about 100 miles on it hiking in the Rocky Mountains. It seems very durable, but a little on the heavy side for a smaller pack. Even though the pack is water bladder compatible, I am not using one. I love the ventilating back, but the arc that provides the ventilation area, but it does take up space in the main storage area. Also, the vertical sipper storage area is ok for smaller items, but they can’t be too bulky or they won’t fit. The small top storage area isn’t very deep and can only store a few snacks like, protein bars, crackers and meat sticks… or my small first aid kit and buff. The zippers on the waist belt pockets work well, and the pockets are just barely large enough for my Samsung S22 phone with the protective case…very tight. Side water bottle pockets work well and I can just barely reach back to remove one. Shoulder straps and waist belt is very adjustable and comfortable. However, if you are a larger person, you may want to look for a larger pack. The pack if very comfortable and I love the green color. I would have gone with the Stratos 24 Pack - Men's, but the belt pockets were too small for my phone, and I didn’t care for the colors offered. The Zulu 24 LT works well for what I use it for, warm-season day hikes only. Of course, for overnight trips, I’ll use one of my larger packs.
This bag is super comfortable and the trampoline back is a game changer. I wish i would have gotten one of these bags earlier.
I had been shopping other brands but decided to try this on in the store and was impressed. This is a very functional and super comfortable pack. I have used it mainly for hut-to-hut multi-day hikes in Europe. The storage compartment is easily accessible with the U-shaped zipper system and the hip belt makes the pack incredibly comfortable to carry even though it weighs a bit more than other available packs. Gregory also makes a great water resovoir and it integrates very nicely with this pack. Overall, I am very happy with this pack.
I had originally been looking at different brands but settled on this pack after trying it on in the store. I love this pack as it's definitely the most comfortable pack I have ever owned. The organization and setup is fairly simple and standard and it's a bit heaveier than others in the category, but it is super comfortable for loadfs in the 20 lb range - and this is especially true for the hip pack.
Best day hike backpack I have ever used. Just the right amount of space and pockets to organize all my gear. The breathability on my back through the whole day was so nice. Waist straps and shoulder straps were so comfortable, I often forgot I was wearing a pack.
This pack was just the right size for me, at least so I thought. I used it for about 4 months on numerous long hikes and snowshoes with up to 25 lbs. The good: Fit me perfectly (5'7", 163) and carried very well. The side water bottle pockets are large and fit 1 liter Nalgene securely. That's it. The bad: The frame bows inward into the main compartment such that with a water reservoir in it a large amount of space is rendered unusable. The 2 external pockets are a joke. The 'top' pocket barely, and I mean barely, fits car keys and a thin wallet. Can't even squeeze in a pair of sunglasses. The front pocket is pointless - it is flat with no ability to expand which means when the pack is loaded you can barely even slip in a map, much less a pair of gloves or hat. If anything is lashed to the back of the pack you cannot access the back pocket as the zipper is centered right under what's lashed on the back. And, the waist belt pockets appear to be of decent size until you fasten the waist belt at which point they loose most of the volume due to curvature of the belt. The virtually useless external pockets mean that everything you might need, like snacks, headlamp, T-P must be stowed in the main compartment. Just to rub in the salt the pack is structured to tip over on the shoulder straps when set down. I never once got the pack to stand on its own and loading could be a struggle of keeping the pack upright while loading. I never would have bought this pack if I could have seen it first, the hazard of ordering on-line. I do not recommend this pack.
Perfect size - husband bought it for himself. Carried less stuff than during winter season. This fit the bill.
