Favorite bag — even airplane carry-on compatible
This is my new favorite travel and hauling bag — can see it used for lots of functions (except for backpacking or touring). I have the 120L version and just bought the 60L version for a ski trip to SLC. The 60L was the right size for my boots, helmet, my ski clothing, and the other essentials. It even fit in the overhead bin for carry-ons! (Does not fit under the seat.) I like the inside and outside pockets. I like the four rigged handles on the side. I like the compression straps. I like the lockable zippers. I like the removable shoulder straps. I really like the design and ruggedness. Got lots of compliments. Just a great bag. Hope BD keeps this one in the product line for a long time.
Excellent Quality, Easy Access to Gear
Excellent quality and stout design means easy access to gear. Great for storing small gear: hats, gloves, skins, base-layers, ski crampons, etc. All those small items are now easily accessed and held in a central location. The burly design is overkill for storage, but the stout design gives it a box shape, and makes for easy access and easy viewing to find items buried by other gear. Much better than a flimsy canvas or nylon duffel. Plus the sale price made it price comparable to those lower quality duffels. They stack like boxes which keeps the truck organized when on road-trips.
packs gear well
i have been using this bag for a while now, and I can say that i am very happy with the build and durability shown. the only thing I am leery about would be the plastic buckles in the bag. Otherwise, i am happy. this bag stores my Petzl full body harness, helmet, edge pro, and many other pieces of rescue equipment.
Thoughtful Design
I have a couple of haul bags similar to this that I will use for gear storage (ropes, trad stuff, etc) and the minimum standard is lots of hard points for tying down, weather resistance, and being bomb proof. I also occasionally use these bags for personal items on longer travel - the thoughtfully designed pockets and internal sinch bag really make this bag a nice option for both purposes, wherein the past my other bags have left things to be desired in some regard. The stone hauler checks all the boxes 👍🏻
Tuff Traveler
A well designed bag for the active traveler. I really like the material that has a rigidity allowing the bag to stay open. The cinch straps are great for securing a mid-load and the drawstring stash pocket is great for dirty goods that need to be separated from the main compartment. Finally the dual lid mesh zipper pockets are perfect for the little things that can get lost in the black hole and the grab handles on all sides allows for those long reaches deep in the bed of my truck. Get one!
60L Duffel Bag
This pack is the perfect size for everything you need. There is plenty of room for my 70m rope, all of my gear, as well as my helmet too. All in the main hold! There is also a couple extra ports for snacks, phones, etc, which makes traveling much easier. While it is big, the straps are adjustable and buckle around you to make heavy loads lighter. It can also be closed up and compacted when stored! Overall a very good product.
bottomless
tons of space, took it on a three week trip and came back with more stuff than i left with. My only wish is that it had a shoulder strap, as i didnt always want to use the backpack straps or the handles on the sides. This would be an easy fix though as there is a daisy chain that goes all the way around the bag, so i could use a shoulder strap off another duffel bag that i have and some carabiners... highly recommend.
Stonehauler 60
Someone said that the bag only lacked a shoulder strap to carry it cross-body, instead of having to hookup the 2 shoulder straps. I’ve found that you just need to hook one end of one shoulder strap to the opposite connection. Works out really well. BD is the real deal. Another great piece of equipment, this hauler is. Appreciate their spirit of drive to constantly improve their gear.
Stonehsuler 60L Duffle Bag
So far loving it. I use it for my mountain bike gear while traveling. The bag inside it is perfect for dirty shoes and or cloths. The other pockets are nice for smaller items as well. Only negative is I wish it had a strap so you could carry over your shoulder. Most the time I'm just carrying from house to car and don't need the backpack straps and don't want to carry with my hand.
Some of the best-built duffles there
I have recently became a duffle enthusiast and pretty much sorted all my outside gear into various duffles for the ease of finding and transporting. Thus I own the makes of Arcteryx, Big Agnes, Backcountry, Mountain Hardwear etc. The duffel from Black Diamond definitely stacks with the better of them, it is sturdily built, lightly padded and just oozes quality.
