Very nice
I’m new to mtn biking and needed something that would work with a dropper post. (I normally ride w a skort but kept getting stuck.) These shorts are really comfortable, the color (green) is beautiful, and I don t think about them at all while riding which is ideal. Right side pocket fits my iPhone plus w case perfectly and left side pocket is good for stuffing a cap, snacks, or whatever. I’m 5’4 160 lbs and that size 12 fits well with cinches on the side. Length is good (just above knee) for protection against overgrown trails. Lots of nice, well thought out features. I will buy more in other colors. Recommended!
No butt or thighs required
I’m 5’10” and 160 pounds. I normally consider myself to have an “athletic build” because I ride about 150 miles a month so I have a butt and some thick quads. But these shorts made me feel like too much sausage stuffed in its casing. How does anyone fit in these and still move around!? The legs were so narrow. But besides the fit, they were a cool design and I liked the color. Sad I had to very promptly return them.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The freewheel ride mountain bike shorts are fantastic. Light and breathable without sacrificing durability. I've been riding with these for a few weeks now and am happy to say they are everything I've come to expect from OR in quality and performance. I liked them so much I ordered the rest of the new mountain biking specific offerings and everything is easily a new favorite! The size chart was spot on for both the shorts and tops. I've worn a lot of OR ferrosi apparel for casual riding, but very happy to see one of my favorite brands putting out mountain bike specific clothing. Bravo!

Fav mtn bike shorts to date
Being a plus size rider, it's difficult to find shorts that are comfortable, breathable, have a good stretch, and actually look good. These shorts are all of the above plus some. The pockets are great for phones/keys not much else, which is ideal or else you end up putting everything in there and look like a chipmunk. I do wish they had belt loops. The waste is slightly too big but the legs fit like a dream. They don't slide down too much but I do find myself having to adjust a bit more when stopping for water/looking at a map. But great shorts over all!
Fantastic
I am so stoked that Outdoor Research started a MTB line. These short a great: they're very durable, they have roomy pockets, they hold their own out on the mountain. The vents are nice, they are very stretchy and can accommodate a chamois no problem. One feature I love are the side cinches at the waist. Men's hiking and biking pants always have this feature, but it's really rare to find women's pants or shorts that do, so KUDOS to OR! If it were about 1" thicker that would be perfect, so it would feel more distributed like a belt instead of a cord.
Most comfortable biking shorts ever
I've worn many biking shorts in my left, and these are, by far, the best I've ever worn. Sometimes you find that biking shorts are too low on the waist, but I did not have that experience with these shorts. I could reach, bend, and pick things up, all with the shorts staying nicely in place. The waist band on these shorts is super comfortable. There is a little bit if stretch to the entire garment, which helps to make them more comfortable that many other things out there. The snap that closes at the fly is amazing! It snap in place, then slides a little bit to stay secure while active. They are easy to unsnap when needed. There are a couple of excellent sized pockets and one is large enough for my cell phone. These shorts don't stretch out of place and do not sag. They stay looking great all day long. The gloves felt soft, comfortable, and helped me to feel more secure on my ride.

Very comfortable & breathable. Pockets are put in a great place, and the seams are much better to ride with than most shorts. The waistband is technically adjustable with a side belt, but the band itself is not made of stretchy material - my only quip is it would be great to have some elasticity in the waistband. Otherwise, great bike shorts for a great price.

Can’t get better than this
I love these shorts. The side pockets with the pouch in the bag are a perfect place to store my phone when I am mountain biking. They also have the great panel in between the legs to reduce rubbing and irritation. LOVE THESE SHORTS! Brilliant design
My first pair of mountain biking shorts like these and I really like them. Very comfortable with enough stretch and the waistband is adjustable.

Great women’s MTB shorts!
The Freewheel line has had zero misses for me. These fit well and are comfortable and flattering.
