Does everything it says it does, really well!

I brought this kit on a recent road trip down west coast. At the end of each day's drive, I'd use this kit at the hotel room to eat my dinner/enjoy snacks. The interlocking plates are really well made and are large enough to prepare and enjoy an entree sized lettuce salad. I packed the breakfast offered at my hotels and stored it in the interlocking plates to enjoy a few hours later on the road. As advertised, the seal was tight and didn't leak during the day's drive. The knife is sharp (for a knife that's not made of metal), the spoon/fork aren't flimsy, and the band that keeps everything together is well designed. The collapsible cup seems well made, too (thick silicone and doesn't look like it will form stress cracks from repeated use). This mess kit is perfect for my needs!

Cleans easily

I like this plastic, it cleans easily and does not contribute to rattling around with utensils and pots.

Beware the Knife!

I used this on backpacking trips where there was shared food. It all conveniently packs down into the rectangle shape and is lightweight and easy to throw into a pack. The cup is fantastic. I would 1 billion % get a different spork. Pros - Cup doesn't burn hands with hot liquids - Swallow bowl plate combination with lid can serve as two plates or stack underneath (great if food is too hot). - The fork/spoon/knife combo is really long which is awesome for reaching into backpacker meals - The knife is sharp Cons - The knife is sharp (b/c duh knifes are sharp). I cut myself pretty bad on a backpacking trip disassembling the spoon/fork/knife combo. I pulled the fork and spoon apart to store it not thinking about where the serrated knife edge was located and sliced open two of my fingers at the crease pretty good. Rookie mistake on my part I guess. - The rectangular design makes it hard to store in a bear can. - You cannot use the spoon without assembling it into the fork b/c of the built in knife. This is now my lunch kit for work and I try not to slice my hands up on the stupid knife assembling and disassembling the spoon/fork nonsense.
