Doesn’t hold up in long stretches

Maybe I am expecting too much but I found that this jacket soaked through much more easily than I wanted. I wore it as an outer shell during a surprise snow storm while camping and after 2-3 hours the jacket was soaked and my down layer below was wet. The jacket was still drenched the next day. Comfy but I wouldn’t rely on.

Permeates quickly in steady rain

I bought this rain jacket for its packability and breathability. While it is comfortable and lightweight, it did not hold up against PNW rain. On several occasions, the jacket was soaked through within 1 hour of steady rain while hiking. I was left soaked through and cold. Would only recommend wearing this jacket out on short stints of rainshowers and nothing more. Returned to REI as it won’t work for the precipitation levels in my area.

Great rain shell

Great rain jacket! Very lightweight, and quite stretchy for a rain shell. It fits perfectly over multiple layers underneath (shirt, fleece, and OR Transcendent Down Hoodie), and the hood has great coverage. It's lasted well through heavier rain on the West Coast and dries quick

Everything I need!

Wow! I have been searching for an ultralight rain jacket and was thrilled when I discovered this on sale. It has everything on my list: breathable, stretchy, zip pockets, hood with a visor, and even pit vents! I’d been looking at other brands but wasn’t willing to pay their steep prices for ultralight jackets. I travel and wanted a very lightweight jacket to tuck in my suitcase for emergencies, and this will do the trick. Since this is just a shell, it isn’t intended for warmth, just for staying dry, so I did size up in case I need to layer underneath. Thank you for this great product! I got the balsam/grove, a two-toned green, which is very pretty.

A Worthy Investment

I live in New England, and I'm traveling to "old" England later this year. Between our record rainfall back home and variable conditions across the pond, I needed a good raincoat. Cue *hours* of research, which landed me here. So far I've worn this coat out in several storms for 10-20min at a time (walking the dog) and after a quick shake off in the mudroom, it's completely dry. And so am I! Plus it's quiet, blocks wind, and the material has a nice matte finish. The colors are lovely, classy green shades that go with everything. Got a medium and there's room to layer a fairly bulky coat or sweatshirt underneath but it's not huge if I'm just in a t-shirt. I'm 5'6", athletic 150lbs, 37-27-38. I'm literally excited to camp and hike in the rain this summer now that I'll have this coat to protect me. Now I just want OR to make a matching one for the dog.

I've been hiking the El Camino/traveling in northern Spain and wore this jacket just about everyday. This is the rainiest part of the country and the OR Stratoburst had kept me warm on chill, foggy mornings and dry throughout hours long treks in the rain. Pit zips are easy to reach. It's super light weight and looks great even after it's been balled up in my pack for a day.

Best jacket

Totally waterproof and super lightweight. Use this for general wet weather but breathable. Haven’t used for hiking yet but it packs up so small and will be great for future travel use as well. It’s not a thick/heavy jacket but it’s fine. Easy to layer over a warmer or thicker layer. Have worn a thick fleece under it too.

Great for wet, hot and humid!

Bought for a bird watching trip to Costa Rica, due to it being lightweight and having pit zips for the wet hot humid weather. It lived up to the task. I never got overheated hiking in the misty jungle and stayed dry in some really heavy downpours. Packs down small and barely took up any room in my carry on.

Comfortable and lightweight!

This jacket is stretchy, light-weight, and extremely comfortable. I love the color and fit and really enjoy the overall aesthetic of it. Functionally, it has performed flawlessly. I used this jacket in the PNW on multiple rainy day hikes and have had no issues.
