Awesome fun

Just bought this bike a few days ago and I love it! Perfect for my needs: easy on and off (I'm 6'2") great for the city and maintained trails around Austin, perfect to commute from home to restaurants and bars. The only drawback is the manufacturer of this bike hasn't created a rear cargo rack. Rides well, goes to 20 mph with only the throttle, after about 1.5 hours of riding (several times) the battery is just over 1/2 drained -- I don't know how many miles that equates to, but possibly in the 15-20 range.

Smooth ride on hard surfaces

Bike is a comfortable ride and has decent power. When you get to last bar on battery you best be ready to pedal though.

Comfortable but not great build quality

I tested one out for a month but couldn't justify keeping it. The ride is smooth and the power is good but for the price point, the top speed and quality aren't great. The top throttle-only speed it 20 MPH but if you try to go fast by pedaling (as instructed by the manufacturer), the motor makes an insane sound like it's going to blow. Also repeated issues with squeaky brakes and the bike motor time out on me once but it recovered with a 5 minute cool off.

So much fun, you might hear me giggle

Ok, it took awhile to get, but now that it’s here, I love it. I bought it to commute to work and help coach our XC team. Yesterday I played the rocky theme while following our top runner on his last hill. It is just fun.

Awful purchase experience at REI Christiana

This has been a long and disappointing purchase. I purchased the bike on Nov 6 to be shipped to the Christiana DE REI. It arrived Nov 9th. I received a call from Jill on Nov 11 stating that there was an issue with the stem and they ordered a warranty part to repair it. I called back on Nov 15th to see what the status was. They stated the part did not arrive yet. I called REI back on Nov 21 asking for an update. They stated parts were not received. I called Trek the manufacturer on Nov. 23rd who stated the item shipped the day after the claim was made and checked tracking. Tracking info stated thei item was shupped USPS and received by REI on Nov 20th. I called REI back and told them they should have my part. I was told they will check. I was called later that afternoon and was told the managers don;t check the mailbox often and my part was installed and I can pick up my $2700 bike. I drove 1.5 hrs to pick up my bike. I was given the box, signed the liability paper work and was handed a box that they said contained the charger. I loaded up the bike and headed 1.5 hrs home. The next day I opened the box. The charger was there, miscellaneous bolts/nuts/manuals/zip ties were inside. I;'m not sure if they were extras or the tech didn't assemble the bike correctly. Al little concerning. I powered it on and tried to connect to the app. It failed every time. I called TREK who stated the app needed a firmware update and needs to be brought back to the dealer. Why wasn;t this done prior to delivery? I also noticed the front tire was at 12 lbs, the rear 13 lbs. They were supposed to be at 30lbs. This was an item on the assemble checklist that was marked completed. What else was missed? I was not driving another 1.5 hrs back to REI. I called Trek who told me to try a local bike shop. I ended up at Bike Doctor Annapolis. They tried to update the firmware. It failed many times. They called Trek who stated they display unit may need to be replaced. Once received by Bike Doctor, the firmware update was successful. Bike Doctor Annapolis also noted none of the lights worked. They had to connect the headlight and taillights. Another thing missed by the REI Assembly tech. Although the bike is working now, this has left a bad taste in my mouth with REI and their bike techs. None of this should have slipped through the cracks on a $2700 bike or even a $200 bike. I'm still determining if I will return it and buy one from Bike Doctor. Fell free to contact me with any questions.

This thing is awesome

This thing is a dream!! The ride is great, even on rough uneven terrain the seat combined with the front suspension keeps it all very comfy, the distance you get out of the battery is pretty incredible even if your just using the throttle ( I haven’t had mine die on me in the 2 years I’ve owned it, the small screen that displays the battery life can be hard to see if you are wearing polarized sunglasses but I just used the included hardware to attach my phone to the bike. It was super easy and the app is seamless with the bike). Pedaling is comfortable and extends battery life well beyond anywhere I’ve circuited. There is a gear hum at 21 miles per hour when your pedaling but goes away at 22 mph on up to the top speed, I hadn’t noticed this until reading reviews. I personally really appreciate all the included safety features; lights, turn signals, reflectors, variable pedal assist to get you around pedestrians and obstacles, a button that walks the bike for you if you run out of gas. Getting it my car wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be either, there’s a plastic cover that needs to be unscrewed and viola you have access to lower down the handle bars. Finally and most importantly, it’s the coolest looking bike on the block!!! I feel like I’m on a Vespa in the Italian country side. It’s been 2 years since my purchase and I’ve had nothing but a great time on it.
