Excellent winter foot protection.
Looking at previous reviews, the following should be considered: 1) hand wash in cool water, towel dry socks to remove excess moisture, air dry (Woolite instructions) 2) extra cushioning increases bulk; 3) after use, turn inside out to release built-up moisture. Wool fibers get easily abused under machine pressure. However, its warmth and wicking ability are unsurpassed. The following steps should

Cushioning was left out
The description says selective cushioning. Where? The only place where there seems to be cushioning is in the arch area of the sock. You need it in the heel and toe.

Solid Hiking Socks

Cushioned similar to standard ski socks with good flat seams.Fit my feet as advertised .Only drawback is tops are tight on calves (6ft 200lbs) which I seem to encounter on many hiking socks.

Quality 👎🏻

These have pilled and frayed so badly. After 1 wash they look horrible. Ive only worn them 3 or 4 times and they look worse than any other wool socks I've had far longer.

Great feel, low durability

Sock was very comfortable. Unfortunately the sock developed a hole in the heel a month after warranty ended. Not durable enough for serious hiking.

Merino wool socks that fit well and feel great.

I only wear wool blend socks for all my needs. Street socks to serious hiking socks, wool blends keep my feet much drier than any others. These Woolrich socks were on sale so I bought two pairs. Liked them so much that I bought six more pairs. I recommend these for daily wear. For heavier hiking or backpacking I prefer heavier weight wool blend socks, and my hiking boots are sized accordingly. These have a very soft inner surface that feel wonderful. Haven't hiked in them, but my serious daily walk on asphalt with a steep hill indicates that they will be great for light hiking.

Warm and comfy, concerned on durability

Like others have noted, these socks are quite warm and provide a good amount of cushion. Yet, I am concerned for durability, as there is already significant pilling after only a couple of wears

Just OK

I got a couple of pairs on sale. After a couple of washes each, these aren't as soft as my old REI-brand socks, but they fit OK. A bit less cushioning than I had hoped.

Good socks

Very comfortable. Wore them out in the dead of summer, on the hoof all day. Wish I had bought several pairs when I had the chance.
